March was a pretty busy month for me on the blog – I managed to post nearly every day! Not only that, but I made it through 11 books, which is probably some kind of record.
I’ve also been doing more buddy reads with other bloggers (and friends of mine) which have made reading so much more fun!I read The Fever with Julianne from Outlandish Lit and Almost Famous Women with Katie from Bookish Tendencies. Neither book was what I had expected going into it, but both were great buddy reads – and discussing the books as we read added a lot of extra depth to the reading experience, particularly for Almost Famous Women, which was an intense and complex read.
I think my favourite reads of the month were the Anne of Green Gables books. I had forgotten how magical and hilarious Anne’s world is, and how much fun it is to spend time in. I’m currently reading the third book in the series, Anne of the Island, and I’m looking forward to her next adventures!
Books I read in March:
- The Half Brother – Holly LeCraw
- Swamplandia! – Karen Russell
- The Art of Lainey – Paula Stokes
- The Fever – Megan Abbott (Not yet reviewed)
- Hausfrau – Jill Alexander Essbaum
- A Visit From the Goon Squad – Jennifer Egan (Not yet reviewed)
- Someone Is Watching – Joy Fielding
- Almost Famous Women – Megan Mayhew Bergman (Not yet reviewed)
- Anne of Green Gables – L.M. Montgomery (Not yet reviewed)
- Black Dove White Raven – Elizabeth Wein (Not yet reviewed)

Other things you might have missed:
- I listed my favourite books read from 2013-15
- I shared some thoughts on World Book Day
- I was nominated for Sisterhood of the World Blog Award! (Thanks, Julianne!)
- I discussed women who wrote under male or non-gender-specific pen names for International Women’s Day
- I shared my favourite books and top TBR of books about books and reading
- I dreamed about the books I want to read this spring
- I listed some of the books I’d like to re-visit from my childhood and teen years
- I talked about the difference between good books and likable characters
- I started a new weekly link-up, My Week On Wednesday since WWW Wednesdays are a thing of the past! You can check out (and link to) my most recent one here
That’s about it for March! I’m already looking forward to April. I finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie yesterday, and am about a third of the way through A Little Life, which I’m reading with Julianne. I’m also looking forward to the next two Anne of Green Gables books and #CloudAtlasAlong. Here’s a list of books I’m planning to read in April so far (of course this will probably change…):
- Anne of the Island – L.M. Montgomery
- Anne of Windy Poplars – L.M. Montgomery
- A Little Life – Hanya Yanigihara
- We Should All Be Feminists – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
- Cloud Atlas – David Mitchell
- Our Endless Numbered Days – Claire Fuller
- My Brilliant Friend – Elena Ferrante
- God Help the Child – Toni Morrison
- Nothing Like Love – Sabrina Ramnanan
- Blood On Snow – Jo Nesbo
Now it’s your turn! What did you read in March? What’s on the April shelf? Have you read any of my March or April books?
I'm trying to keep up with the Socratic Salon upcoming books so that I can join in on the conversation, and OEND is up soon! I started Cloud Atlas… but I haven't made it through the first section yet! I think partly because I'm already reading a challenging book (A Little Life) and so I don't really find myself wanting to reach for CA in between. More often than not, I reach for a Flavia de Luce or one of the Anne books! Me too – let me know when you've got time, and we'll pick another book!
Thank you! It was a great month for reading. Hoping April keeps up the pace!
I'm really hoping to get to Our Endless Numbered Days this month too! It just came in from the library, so I'm going to have to see where I can prioritize it in the line up. So many books, so little time! So glad you're going to give #CloudAtlasAlong a shot, and I can't wait for our next epic buddy read 🙂
You did really good in books! Happy April reading!
