This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is debut authors whose first book has me clamouring to read their second. I cannot even tell you how frustrated I become when I absolutely love a book, finish it, and then go looking for more…. only to discover there aren’t any yet! I mean, I guess it’s something to look forward to, but honestly I’m not a very patient person. Here are some I’m still waiting (impatiently) for!
Fiction:
Rita Leganski (The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow)
Andy Weir (The Martian)
Paula Hawkins (The Girl On the Train)
Michael Christie (If I Fall, If I Die)
M.R. Carey (The Girl With All the Gifts)
Sarai Walker (Dietland)
Humour:
B.J. Novak (One More Thing)
Allie Brosh (Hyperbole and A Half)
Memoirs:
Aisha Tyler (Self-Inflicted Wounds)
Lena Dunham (Not That Kind of Girl)
Piper Kerman (Orange Is the New Black)
Honourable Mention:
Marina Keegan (The Opposite of Loneliness)
Unfortunately because of Marina Keegan’s tragic death, there will never be a second book. But I’ll spend the rest of my life wishing there could be.
There are probably a bunch I’m forgetting, but these are the ones that came to mind first, so hopefully they’re the ones I would have picked anyway.
What about you guys? Which authors’ next books are you anxiously waiting for?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
Oh my gosh, so many books I want to read! And I hope I love them so much that I can’t wait for something else from the authors. I know that was the case for me and One More Thing.
Great list, this was a fun topic. I’m so torn on The Martian. I adored that book so hard, I’m kinda nervous about a follow-up. Though I guess that comes with the sophomore effort from any beloved reading, right? And Aisha Tyler? YES. I hope you listened to that on audio, because she is fanTAStic.
Interesting list! I also really liked Marina Keegan’s book – so sad that we’ll never get anything else by her.
The girl with all the gifts and The Martian are ones I’m really interested in!
Wow, somehow I’d never heard of Marina’s death! I’ve seen this book pop up over and over again in my GR feed and elsewhere so I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet!
I’m so excited for Allie Brosh’s next book, I think it’s out in the spring?
Seeing as two of your fiction books — “The Martian” and “The Girl on the Train” — are on my list too, I feel like I better go check out your other fiction picks! And I can’t believe I forgot to include M.R. Carey on my list! Oops.
I need Weir and Hawkins in my life!

I loved Allie Brosh’s book, I really hope she does another one. She hasn’t posted anything new on her blog lately either, maybe she’s saving all of her new work for her next book?

I’m definitely intrigued to see what Paula Hawkins writes next! I love the psychological thriller/thriller genre. Great list!
