Five Friday Favourites is a weekly meme hosted by Amanda over at Book Badger. Every Friday she chooses a new topic – full list of topics can be found here.
This week’s topic is “Favourite Books You’ve Read Between April and August.” *rubs hands with glee*
1. Q’s Legacy by Helene Hanff
Oh, I just adored this book. I already loved Helene from her letters and Ann Bancroft’s portrayal in the film version of 84, Charing Cross Road, but in this book her personality really takes on form and I felt like we became friends by the end of the book. (My review coming soon.)
2. Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
I’m so glad I finally got around to reading this hilarious, quirky classic. It certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but the humour was right down my alley. (My review coming soon.)
3. The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan
This book…. this book. It made me happier and sadder than I expected, and it certainly left a lasting impression. I only wish I could read a novel by this girl – she had such immense talent. (My review here.)
4. The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow by Rita Leganski
This book is filled with vulnerability, love, tragedy and healing. It is imbued with magic from the first page to the last and I enjoyed every moment of it. (My review here.)
5. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
I think every reader should read this book. It’s the perfect novel for book lovers – and anyone who chooses to see the world through tinted glasses. (My review here.)
