TOP TEN TUESDAY | BOOKS I WAS SO EXCITED TO READ BUT STILL HAVEN’T

This prompt describes like 90% of the books on my bookshelves and TBR lists. I get so excited about all the new books coming out by authors I loved, books on book prize lists, books people tell me about, books on most anticipated lists and books on any topics I am particularly interested in. But I’m one person who also happens to be a parent, and can’t speed-read, so I only get around to reading a fraction of the books that strike my fancy. Here are a small selection of the books I was super excited about but still haven’t read.

.

So yeah. And that, despite the sheer volume of covers you’ve just perused, is only a tiny fraction. Tiny. Miniscule. Laughably not representative.

What about you guys? Which books first came to mind for you when you saw this prompt? Are any of mine on your list?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

WordPress gremlins kept saying my response to your comment at my blog failed! So, here is my reply: I totally understand being a mood reader–I am definitely one. I also sometimes need to “read” the print/kindle version not listen to the audio or vise-versa. I’d go insane on my long commute without my audio books.

Oh no! Thanks for coming over here to reply! Yes, I totally agree. I love audiobooks. But sometimes there’s a book that I need to SEE to understand and really get, other times there’s too much I want to mark to return to and I prefer to do that in a print book. It definitely depends on the book!

I definitely have a bit of an eclectic taste! I also appreciate the variety. It’s great that whatever your reading tastes, there’s always a few bloggers out there with lists that you can add to your TBR! Thanks for stopping by!

I’m in exactly the same situation with Caste! I started it and had to return it and am on the holds list currently. It was very good, just bad timing! I’m glad to hear Malibu Rising is good. I started Still Life as well and it was also good but just not what I was looking for at that particular moment (big mood reader). Hopefully you get a chance at Caste soon, I think it will be good!

I love your optimism, let’s hope it transfers and I do manage to get to some! Those two are probably the ones I’ve heard the most about, so I’m a little worried about that whole high expectations thing. Hopefully they’ll live up to it!

Yeah, I started it and it seems really good so far. It appeals to me as a chronically ill mother, it’s hard to feel so alone and invisible. I don’t know any other moms who are in a similar situation. So I’m hoping it will help me feel a sense of recognition!
