This seems to be a very hotly contested issue these days. But the dawn of AI becoming widespread coincided with my efforts to avoid reading stressful things in online news, so I haven’t read that much about it. But I would assume that, like with many technological advances, there is the potential for great benefits (making finding information easier, allowing you to create your own images for online media easily, helping people who have learning disabilities to consume information that’s currently inaccessible) but also potential significant down sides (taking work from or reusing the work of artists and writers, being misused, creating erroneous or misguided information). These are just guesses because I have done no research, but my point really is that there are likely pros and cons, regardless of whether I’ve accurately guessed at them here.
For those who are better informed than I am, what are some potential benefits or down sides to it? Did I guess right on any of my examples?
