Oh man, quote prompts are always so hard! I don’t make notes of them, and my memory is pretty much useless these days. So there’s zero chance I’m going to remember any, and I don’t have a way of looking them up at will! So I’m turning to Google for help on this one. I’m sharing some quotes I’ve found on Google that are attributed to characters from books I’ve read, and that stand out to me for some reason.
“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” – Sirius Black from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
“Some people will always need help. That doesn’t mean they’re not worth helping.” – Meera Reed from Game of Thrones (probably the TV show, but I’m counting it since I’ve not read the books anyway and I like it)
“I can’t go back to yesterday – because I was a different person then.” – Alice from Alice in Wonderland
“Today is a good day to try.” – Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” – Gandalf the Grey from The Lord of the Rings
“In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” – Anne Frank from The Diary of a Young Girl
“First of all, if you learn a simple trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” – Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird
“You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful.” – Hazel Grace from The Fault In Our Stars
That’s not ten, but it was harder than I thought to find quotes from books that are actually attributed to the particular character that said them. Tons with just the book and author. Just not the actual character. And it’s also possible these are not completely accurate as I sourced them through Google, so if they’re wrong, feel free to correct me in the comments!
What about you guys? Anyone else not have a list of quotes to go back to? Did you have a hard time finding any?
