This week’s prompt: It’s 2025; are you looking forward to any highly anticipated book releases or reading events in January or the following months?
I’ll have a full list of upcoming releases I’m excited about for January-June 2025 coming out on Tuesday and Wednesday Blogging Challenge post that went up a couple of days ago with a smaller selection, so I’m not going to re-do the same content here. In more general terms though, the reading event I’m most excited for in the upcoming year is the BookTube Prize. I missed it last year because I didn’t keep track of my dates and didn’t sign up for it in time (thanks, ADHD brain). Entirely my own fault, but I was gutted to miss out. So I’ve already submitted my name, and I’m just crossing my fingers that there will be a spot for me this year!
What about you guys? Do you have any books you’re particularly excited to get your hands on that are coming out this year? Any book events (online or in person) that you’re planning to participate in?
The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly blog link-up that gives participants a different book-related question to ponder each week, and allows them to share their thoughts, find new blogs to follow and connect with new readers. The Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and is now hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. To see a list of upcoming prompts go here.
I struggle to find new releases 😂 I do internet searches and nothing really comes up. I will just have to keep my eyes open and see what everyone else has found!
Have a great week and I hope that you get your spot.

Yeah, that’s always the challenge! I used to watch a LOT of BookTube so heard what all of the bookish YouTubers were pre-reading. But I haven’t been watching as much lately as I’m trying not to blow my budget on books, and the best way to do that is… to not know about them! I find there are usually helpful Goodreads lists, if you use that – a lot of these I found through those (you can look here, if you’re interested: https://www.goodreads.com/new_releases/2025/1). On the plus side, not knowing much about what’s coming up does mean I get pleasantly surprised when there’s a new book out that I had no clue about by a favourite author! So there’s always that!
Right now, very little seems to be pushing my buttons. But I look forward to seeing what others are eagerly anticipating on Tuesday. I have never heard of the BookTube Prize—in fact, I don’t really know what BookTube is. lol
Yeah, I hear you. Not all of these are books I would have been jumping on if I weren’t looking for the best of what’s in “upcoming” lists! There are a few great ones I’m excited about, but the others I’ll want to see what the reviews look like! BookTube is not a real thing – it’s just the term that’s evolved to refer to any content on YouTube that’s about books, basically. So the prize started off as a way for bookish YouTubers to have a vote on the best books of the year (I feel like maybe there was some dissatisfaction with the major book prize selections and processes in there, too). It evolved into something that’s open to anyone who is sharing book-related content on social media – including bloggers and Instagrammers, etc. So basically all of us folk! The gentleman who started and runs it is a BookTuber himself, and he’s done a great job of organizing and running it, so if feels really nice to be part of – welcoming, inclusive, and representative of the books we all have been talking about all year! Hence why I like it so much!
Good luck with getting a spot for the BookTube Prize! I had to follow your link because I knew nothing about it. That’s quite a process. I hope you have a Happy New Year!
I am in the judging pool apparently, so hopefully I will be able to get a spot! Thank you! It’s a really fun prize because it’s chosen by the online book community, so it’s generally a great selection of books that I always either enjoy or am glad to have read (often both). I hope you have a wonderful new year as well!
