This week’s prompt: What books do you look to for inspiration at the start of the year or to motivate you to make positive changes in your life?
I don’t have any specific books I look to for inspiration, rather I look for any book that feels bright and pulls me in. Usually if I’m looking for something to trigger motivation or get me to lift out of a hard time, it’ll be a memoir or a light story that centres love and friendship, or an easy book that has beautiful ideas in it (like The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse). Lately, since being diagnosed with ADHD, I find it extremely soothing to read memoirs by people – women in particular – who are also on a similar journey of neurodivergence and late diagnosis.
Do you guys have one or two specific books you go back to at the beginning of a new year or when you need a boost? Anyone else look to memoirs or books they can see themselves in?
The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly blog link-up that gives participants a different book-related question to ponder each week, and allows them to share their thoughts, find new blogs to follow and connect with new readers. The Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and is now hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. To see a list of upcoming prompts go here.
