  I’ve had a slower reading week because my kid is home from summer camp, and we’ve had a visit from my Dad so spending time together has been the most important.   I’m feeling much better so far this week, though the cough is still with me. Progress is progress, though! My kid is in summer camp this week, so I’ve had a bit of time feeling lonely, but also getting more done. I’m trying to get a lot of stuff done around the house and READ MORE

  Another week of sickness! As per usual, a simple cold has now turned into a lung infection thanks to the joys of asthma. But I’m up and about, have a little more energy, and can (almost) taste things, so we’ll call that improvement, shall we? Books were slow this week because every time I READ MORE

  The illness my kid had a couple of weeks back that I thought I had dodged has hit me full force this week. But we still managed to get out for some fun activities and a yummy patio lunch on Canada Day, and my garden has still been getting watered. My kid is bored, READ MORE

  I finished a couple of books this week and overall spent a bit more time reading than I’ve had time to do lately! My kid and I set up an outdoor reading area, so we have been enjoying taking our books outside and spending the odd twenty minutes or so reading together while enjoying READ MORE

  I haven’t finished any books this week, but I didn’t do a post last week so I do have one from last week to include! I’m still working on a few books, not sure which will actually get finished. My garden is starting to grow, though, so I think the lack of reading time READ MORE

  I finally have that feeling back. You know the one, when you’re reading a book and it takes over a part of your brain such that when you’re not reading, part of you remains in the world of it, with its characters, and anxious to return to the story. It’s a relief when this READ MORE

  Well, I did finish a book last week, but I’m back to only a little bit of reading this week. But I’ve had a great week of gardening, watching things grow, seeing new seeds sprout and enjoying the bees busily collecting nectar from our rhododendrons and the kale I let flower so they’d have READ MORE

  I’ve been spending most of my free time out in the garden, digging, pulling weeds, planting seeds, loosening packed earth, potting on seedlings, watering, chatting to the neighbours over the fence and watching fuzzy bee bums as they explore the few flowers that are in bloom. It’s a magical time of year, and the READ MORE

  What a surprise, I didn’t read any books this week either! The busy times continue as we had birthdays, mother’s day, and lots more to do in the garden! I snuck in a little more of one of my audiobooks, but that was really it. I have been watching old episodes of Who Do READ MORE

  Well, yet another week has gone by without finishing a book – though I have been chipping away at a few. It’s birthday season, so we have parties, shopping, planning, and wrapping going on! It’s also gardening season, so any spare moment I have is spent setting seeds, potting on seedlings, carrying plants in READ MORE

  So really, at this point in my month-long (or longer) reading slump, it should come as no surprise that I didn’t finish a single book this week. I did read a little bit, but I’m doing that thing where I pick up or download a book, read a little bit, pause or put it READ MORE

  Well, true to form, I’ve not finished a single book this week. I do have excuses – our fridge broke, then the new one we had delivered is also broken, and we lost three days in shopping for a fridge, waiting around for delivery and plumbers, waiting around for repair people to get in READ MORE

  Still not a prolific week! I somehow completely missed that it was Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon this week until it was almost over, so I missed out on participating. I finished one book because I decided to join in for an hour or so. I really want to actually join in next time around because READ MORE

  Another book-less week, unfortunately. Well, not entirely book-less, I just haven’t finished any. So instead of my usual “Just Shelved” section, I’m going to include a “Started” for the books I started and abandoned (“Currently Reading” will be the books I’m still going with but haven’t completed yet).   Started         READ MORE

  Well, more time has gotten away from me and rather than reading, I’ve been watching BBC shows about plants, wildlife, nature, gardening and history (A House Through Time is a current favourite). I’ve also spent a lot of time out in the garden weeding and tackling two very large, very unruly rose bushes that READ MORE

  Well, this week I have had a lot going on, so I have been reading only a little bit and having trouble sticking with any one book. I’ve been dabbling in a few, hopping back and forth, and mostly putting down the book or pausing the audiobook to watch old episodes of Grace and READ MORE

  This week has been better than last week in terms of reading! We’ve had an interesting week – it snowed for the second time this year, which was beautiful to watch (it came on around 10 pm in huge flakes that drifted peacefully down beneath the streetlights).   Just Shelved          READ MORE
