  So this week’s prompt is “scariest real life ghost story.” And I’m at a complete loss. I don’t watch or read scary stories because I’m a complete wimp. I just can’t do it.   I haven’t ever thought much about fantastical animals. Or at least I didn’t – then I had a small child. All of a sudden, they are very much a part of my day-to-day life. Now it seems like they are everywhere. Dragons on the kitchen table. Winged lions on the bathroom counter. Fairies on READ MORE

  Well, this is easy: both. All of the above. But to go into more detail, it depends. I love new books, particularly now that I have respiratory issues so I don’t want books that are moldy or smell of cigarette smoke or are full of animal fur or even dust. So these days, if READ MORE

  Those of you who have been around for a while will know that I don’t generally read sci-fi. So I have a limited frame of reference for this question, and some of the things I can think of are sort of like maybe they’d be cool or maybe they’d be a terrible idea. Like READ MORE

  Well, another easy answer: both. I used to enjoy going to the library with my kid to borrow books – it was fun to explore the shelves and see which the librarians would recommend. Since COVID though, we don’t go in person to indoor spaces that we don’t absolutely have to go to. So READ MORE

  Oh man. I mean, there are so many! How do I narrow it down to just one? I hate all of them. Every single one. I particularly dislike scrubbing bathtubs, because I’ve got a bad back and that always hurts. I also hate changing laundry over for the same reason – lots of bending. READ MORE

  This week’s prompt is the opposite of last week’s but just as difficult. Maybe even harder. Plotlines I always want to read? Well, I do like novels about people who learn about themselves. Especially if they’re people who live alone and kind of like it that way and read a lot. I enjoy a READ MORE

  Hmmmm. I mean, I don’t think there are any I absolutely refuse to read. There are always exceptions. But there’s one I do tend to avoid: romance stories where one character is in a relationship and you’re supposed to root for them to fall in love with someone else and either cheat or break READ MORE

  Oh, this one is easy: All of the above and then some. I’ve been known to dog ear pages when it’s a book I don’t care so much about or when I need to mark a particular poignant passage and don’t have any page markers. I’ve got a huge collection of bookmarks, recently added READ MORE

  Hmm. This is a tough one. I don’t go in for the past, generally. I don’t even read much historical fiction. I’m not thrilled with the way things are going in the world right now, but I do tend to feel like in a lot of ways most points in the past were as READ MORE

  You know, I’ve never really read any fan-fic. So I haven’t really thought much about it. I guess I feel like if it is a positive outlet, a way for someone to join into a world they want to be part of (especially if it’s to help them deal with a real world that READ MORE

  I am NOT an adventurous eater. I don’t eat meat or seafood because I don’t like the strong flavours, I don’t like squishy textures like okra or eggplant, I don’t like strong cheeses and there are several vegetables I don’t like the flavour of.   I laughed when I saw this prompt. That would be a huge post, and that’s not even accounting for the fact that most of my bookcases are double stacked. That is so not happening. So I’ve taken a photo of one, the one that my Dad and I made together when I was in READ MORE

  I don’t really do weekend getaways since the kid arrived. But if I did, it would be simple. I’d find a nice little AirBNB where I’d have quiet and privacy. I’d find some great take out in the area. I’d carefully select my reading material. If possible I’d also locate a nearby bookshop to READ MORE

  I totally missed this week’s Wednesday post – oops – so here it is a day late! This is a hard one, because I feel like most of my best friends are in books, and there are so many I’d love to meet. Anne from Anne of Green Gables, Helene and the crew from READ MORE
