Five Friday Faves: Villains

Five Friday Favourites is a weekly meme hosted by Amanda over at Book Badger. Every Friday she chooses a new topic – full list of topics can be found here.

This week it’s “Favourite Villains.” This one will be a bit tough for me, but I’ll give it my best shot!

1. Voldemort from the Harry Potter series

Don’t get me wrong, I hate the cad. But he’s such a thoroughly hateful character that he perfectly epitomizes the fictional villain.

2. Cruela Deville from 101 Dalmations

I’m thinking more of the cartoon Deville than anything, but she was perfection. Everything from her fur coats to her slash of red lipstick to her disdainful eyebrows to her long cigarette perpetually causing coughing fits and leaving a trail of ash in her wake.

3. Gollum from Lord of the Rings

Gollum is one of the more complex villains – for all his faults, disgusting habits and obsession bordering on insanity, his other side is just so pitiable, so pathetic that you’re constantly bouncing between hating him and feeling so tragically sorry for him.

4. Mrs. Trunchbull from Matilda

I am still terrified of this woman. She shot-put a young girl over a fence with her pigtails. She made a kid eat an entire chocolate cake. She puts kids in a closet lined with spiky nails. She strikes fear into my soul.

5.Β  Moriarty from the Sherlock Holmes books

Evil, yes, but you can’t help but enjoy an immaculate pairing of intelligent characters.

great list hun, why did you find this week tough?

I agree with everyone on your list, apart from Moriarty as I've never read Sherlock Holmes or watched it. And although I have yet to read Lord of The Rings I agree with Gollum, from everything I've heard he is perfectly represented in the films and that makes me smile because he has always been a favourite fictional character of mine πŸ™‚
