LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

It’s been a week. Not terrible, but a little full on. I spent an extra few hours driving to prepare for an unfamiliar and busy route to a field trip my kid was going on, which was super stressful as it involved bumper-to-bumper traffic as 5 lanes merged into 2…. on a bridge. Not my idea of a good time at all. But we made it, a few times, and I’m glad I pushed myself to try. I also spent a lot of the week on the phone arranging contractors to come and take a look at our leaking chimney. And my  husband is super busy with work and has been working into the evening every night this week, so I’ve been doing my best to try and help out a little bit (not much, but I’m hoping every little bit counts) and take some tasks off his plate. Needless to say, I did not do any reading during the week. Instead, I embarked on a re-watch of Scorpion and spend any free time I have watching it while playing solitaire to distract myself without any mental effort! I did end up getting back to reading a bit over the weekend though, and finished one book and nearly finished another. So there’s that!

Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman

I had “nothing” in this slot, but managed to finish a book over the weekend! It wasn’t that great, slow to develop and then not a lot of payoff. Didn’t really care much about the characters or relate to them. But okay enough to finish.

Currently Reading

Mindful Parenting for ADHD by Mark Bertin, MD
Brit(ish) by Afua Hirsch
The Hidden Kingdom by Tui T. Sutherland and Mike Holmes
I Found You by Lisa Jewell

Very little progress made in most of these this week! A bit of Brit(ish), but I’m still only a little bit past halfway. Still very good, but print so harder to read quickly as I have little time or energy to sit and read! I started I Found You after finishing Before We Were Innocent, and it’s also okay. Better than Before, but not the best thriller I’ve ever read. Better pacing, good suspense, and characters I like better, so I’m more invested.

Up Next

The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin
James by Percival Everett
The Zig Zag Girl by Elly Griffiths

Good Night, Irene by Luis Alberto Urrea
The Paris Widow by Kimberly Belle

Still planning to at least try most of these from the library, hopefully some of them will grab my attention and I’ll keep going with them! The others I had in here last week have gone back, unread, so who knows how far I’ll get next week!

That’s it for my reading week. Or lack of reading week, more accurately! Hopefully I’ll get back to at least a bit next week if things are a little less busy! What about you guys? Have you read any of these books? Have you read any good books this week?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

I hate it when I finish a book but the book was really just okay. It’s so disappointing. But, hey, it’s a finished read, right? I hope that something good comes in for me at the library soon. I think I need a fantastic read soon.

Yeah, me too. I started off the year with some really great reads, but now I’m having a bit of a slump. Maybe it’s got to even out or something! I hope you find a fantastic read soon!

I’m sorry your week was so stressful. Most of your books are new to me but I did enjoy The Zig Zag Girl when it I read it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
