Just Shelved

I enjoyed this one – nothing amazing or spectacular, but well paced, interesting characters, I wanted to know what was going to happen and it came together well enough at the end (though I won’t say how!) I don’t think it’ll stick with me vividly or in detail, but entertaining while I was in it!

I’m still reading Brit(ish), which is still very good. I started Good Night, Irene as it’s another WWII book, but honestly it’s not really grabbing me. It’s about the women who worked for the Salvation Army on the front lines driving concession vans to provide tea, coffee and doughnuts and generally keep up morale. There’s a fair amount about how they’re expected to behave before and during their time with the Salvation Army, and more than I’m interested in about their outfits and flirting with various men around them. I’m not saying it’s not a good book – it is – just that I don’t think this is the perspective for me. We’ll see though, because the part I just got to is one where they’re thrown into some action and have to learn how to protect themselves, so maybe it’ll get a little more hands-on and less making tea? We shall see. Just started Eight Perfect Murders today, so only a few chapters into it so far. I’m interested, but withholding judgment for now! Wildful is a sweet graphic novel that I’ve only just started, but seems to be about a city kid who follows her dog through a broken fence into a forest and begins to discover the wonders of nature.

Same books, mostly, as last week that I still have out of the library, and a few more I borrowed since. As usual, no idea when (or if) I’ll get to these, or if I’ll end up finding something else to read entirely! Let me know if you’ve read any of these and would (or wouldn’t) recommend it!
So that’s my week. What about you guys? Did you have a good reading week?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).
I’m curious about Wildful and Flowerheart.
I’ve got family coming in this weekend and I’m trying not to stress.
I haven’t tried Flowerheart, but so far I’m enjoying Wildful! Oh, that sounds like it will be lovely, but it is stressful to host for sure. I hope you find some moments to relax and breathe and that it goes well and gives you some wonderful memories (just of the good stuff, not the stress)!
Thanks for the heads up about Wildful. I’m now looking forward to reading it. These days with my part of the planet (Canada) facing serious threat, being out in wild spaces brings me comfort. It really does have a kind of magic.
So far I’m enjoying it! I’m in Canada too. I’m trying not to listen to the news too much, I feel like there’s not much I can do about any of it, and it’s just really depressing and stressful. I find it frustrating that the political landscape is so bleak and that the election systems seem to be so broken. Not to mention that what happens south of the border that I have absolutely no say in has such an impact on my country as well. I’ve lost a lot of hope by watching what’s happening in the US. Once was bad enough, but why another 4 years of this???? I have trouble understanding. You’re right though, getting outside and spending time in nature is wonderfully grounding, and definitely helps!
