LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

I skipped the last couple of weeks because I didn’t manage to finish a single book. I got stuck listening to A Place for Us and then didn’t make any progress on anything. It didn’t help that I also started watching The Great British Bake Off (I’m only on season 7 now, so please no spoilers for more recent seasons!), which not only took a lot of the time I usually spend reading, but led to some culinary adventures as well. I have a long list of traditional British recipes I’d like to master, and if recent attempts are anything to go by, it’s going to be a while before I get there with any of them!

Just shelved:

I finally finished this book! It’s a series of diary entries spanning a year, so it’s an easy one to dip in and out of, which I’ve been doing for a few months. It really picks up at the end though, so I read the last half of it when I couldn’t sleep one night!

Reading now:

I’m actually listening to all of these on audio, though I am dipping in and out of them in text as well (particularly the first two for passages I’d like to mark or linger over). All three are fantastic, the first two being very important and eye opening. Conversations in Black is a series of conversations on a topic with several prominent Black people who often have slightly to very different opinions, so it’s a great example of the fact (that is obvious but can sometimes be forgotten) that not all Black people agree, even on issues related to race and racism in America. City of Friends is the first Joanna Trollope I’ve read in years – I don’t think I’ve read any while reviewing books on this blog – and is a good bit of light entertainment about the intertwined lives of four female friends and the various issues they have to deal with – aging parents, stroppy teenagers, blending families, working as a woman, etc.

Up next:

I am still part way through the first two, and haven’t made enough progress on my reading lately to make in roads on the last two! They’re on my bedside table just waiting for me, though…

That’s it for my last few weeks of reading! What about you guys? Have you read any of these? Which books did you finish this week, and which did you enjoy the most?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
