I didn’t have the best reading week – I’m not really sure why, I just wasn’t in the mood to read as much as usual. But I did finish one book early this morning, and it’s one from my TBR list last week! Yay!
Just shelved:
I enjoyed Harold Fry. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, and didn’t have quite the charm I was hoping for (don’t get me wrong, it does have charm… just not as much of the infectious kind as I was hoping for). I also guessed the twist pretty early on, so the big reveal was a little flat. But I liked the character development, I liked how Harold changed how he moved within the world during his walk, and how the distance between him and his wife actually helped them begin to heal from old pain and remember their love for one another. I’m glad I finally gave it a try.
Currently reading:
I just heard about The Window Seat, I think in a BookTube video, and it seems like the perfect reflective tone for how I’m feeling right now. I just got the audiobook and am enjoying it so far! I’ve been dipping in and out of The Night Witches for ages now and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a physical book though, and I seem to be unable to find any time to sit and actually read, so it’s going a lot slower than the book deserves! I read the first couple of chapters of Project Hail Mary as an audiobook as well, just to see what it’s like. It has a similar tone to The Martian, and I think I’m going to enjoy it!
Up next:
I have started all of these, they were my “currently reading” last week, but I haven’t picked up any of them in the past week so I feel like they’re better situated as ones I’m planning to read next! Not the books’ fault at all, I’ve just had one of those weeks.
Okay, that’s it for me! Not sure if this week’s reading will be better, but we shall see! What did you guys read this week? What are you planning to read next? Have you read any of these?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Oh, I loved Harold Fry – funny but with a lot more depth than I expected. I also liked seeing Harold’s growth as he walked.
My husband recently finished Project Hail Mary (a Father’s Day gift from me!), so I hope to read it also.
Enjoy your books this week –
Sue
Book By Book
I think I had expected something a bit different than what the book was, but I did enjoy it. It had a bit more darkness and depth than I was expecting. Definitely left me with a lot to think about!
