LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

This week wasn’t as good a reading week as lat week. Not even close. I tried several books, but I had a hard time getting one to stick. I finally settled on the one below, but that was pretty much it!

Just shelved:

I had heard really mixed reviews of this one and got curious. It wasn’t super long, and my library had it on audio, so I decided to give it a try. I’m still sorting through what I think about it. Some aspects I enjoyed – some of the descriptions of events were quite well-written – others not so much. And I think maybe the current situation wasn’t the best for reading it. I’m about to send my unvaccinated kid (too young) with a couple of medical conditions to school, while I, also with medical issues, will then have to either distance and wear masks when we’re together, or roll the dice and just cross my fingers we don’t get sick. If we don’t do school, we lose our spot and there’s not much chance we’ll get into this school again when we are ready for it. So there are no good options, and it’s incredibly stressful. All that to say that reading a book about some kind of cataclysmic event is perhaps not the best idea while I’m waiting for a potentially catastrophic decision to run its course.

Currently reading:

I’m listening to the first two as audiobooks. I’m most involved with Five Days at Memorial, and though I have started Happiness, I probably need to re-start it at this point. Night Witches I’m really enjoying, but as I’ve discussed before, it’s a paper book and I have almost no time to actually sit and physically read. So it’s slow going.

Up next:

I’m excited for The Best Most Awful Job and The Stonewall Reader, but I only have them in physical copy, and as we’ve established I’m not doing very well at reading paper books at the moment. The Sum of Us I do have as audiobook, however I feel like I need to go back and forth with the paper copy to mark important passages, as it’s very information dense, and most of the information is vitally important. So we’ll see if I manage to make it through any of these in the near future!

That’s it for my reading week. Not super impressive, but it evens out with last week, so I’m okay with that. What about you guys? Any great reads this week? Have you read any of these?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
