Okay, so it has been MONTHS since I did a Monday post. September. No idea how it went that long, because I did read at least a few books in September and October. But I then went into my hibernation mode and didn’t finish a single book for three months. It’s been that way for a few years now, so I’m starting to expect it. Though I am having a much harder time swinging back into reading this year than I did last year! At any rate, I did finally finish a book!
Just shelved:
Currently reading:
I’m thoroughly enjoying Q’s Legacy as a comforting re-read so far. I’m about halfway through The 1619 Project which is EXCELLENT and I want you all to look into it. This Place is one I’ve been hearing about a lot but only just got my hands on. So far I’m unsure. The graphics are amazing though, and the content itself is absolutely vital. I started watching the new TV adaptation of This Is Going to Hurt and realized that, while I’ve started it a few times, I’ve never actually read it. I decided to give it another go. So far it’s exactly my sense of humour (dark, twisted, dry, deadpan, and did I mention dark??), a vital account of how difficult it was to be a doctor in the NHS (National Health Service in the UK) before a pandemic swept in and tore it apart. Not for the faint of heart or stomach.
Up next:
Oh, let’s face it, I’m probably not going to read any of these, am I? But they are on my bedside table, so that’s as good as it gets, TBR-wise. Under the Whispering Door is because I loved The House In the Cerulean Sea last year, and I wanted to see if this is at all like it. I haven’t gotten very far, and haven’t gone back to it for a while, so it’s now moved down to TBR rather than currently reading. We’ll see if I circle back. A Still Life is a memoir by a mother with chronic illness, so I’m looking forward to finding some experiences I can relate to here. I’m well behind on Allende’s work, but this is her newest book that came out fairly recently, so it’s at least got to make it onto my TBR!
Phew it feels wonderful to actually have finished a book!! Wow, it’s been a while. What about you guys? Which books did you read this week? Have you read or heard of any of these? Does anyone else go into an involuntary hibernation in the winter?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Anthony Doerr is one of my favorite authors. He is just a fabulous writers. His words!!!!! I also think Colson Whiteheard and Amor Towles are top notch. I hope you get to at least a few of these authors soon. https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2022/04/ttt-authors-i-havent-read-but-want.html
That is great to hear! I’ll be getting to at least two of them for my BookTube Prize reading in the next two months (though I won’t be able to share my thoughts on them until my judging round is over at the end of May), so that’s a good start! Thanks for the encouragement!
