Well, that was a week. Could have been worse – could have been better. Could have been on a beach somewhere tropical sipping something coconutty. But I did read some interesting books (though I didn’t make a lot of progress on the books I was already reading – oops)!
Just Shelved
I’ve been loving the Heartstopper series lately (along with the entire rest of the online bookish world). I have heard good things about Radio Silence and Loveless, so I decided to try this one. I enjoyed it and, as with the series, it tackles some really important issues in a sensitive and realistic way, and has characters that are complex and very emotionally evocative. As with most YA books it would have had more impact had I read it as a teenager, but regardless definitely one worth reading. I’ve meant to read The Thursday Murder Club for ages – I received it as a present from a friend a while ago – and it felt like a good time. I liked the premise and found the twists surprising and satisfying. I switched between audio and print (I found the former from the library) and definitely feel like had I just read the print version I might have found it a bit easier. I lost track of who a couple of the characters where, and towards the end I felt like I missed a few things and had to switch to the print version and re-read a couple of chapters. But in the end I had a good time with it, I liked the characters and the premise, and I suspect I will continue on with the series at some point!
Currently Reading
Yep, still the same list as last week! I am planning to finish The Myth of Normal this week, and I’m considering switching to the audiobook of the new John Irving, mainly because it’s quite long (I neglected to check the length before choosing it) so I just don’t have time to sit and read for as long as it will take!
Up Next
I’ve read a few pages of each of these and am interested in both, but am going to finish at least one of the other books on my current list before I fully dive in!
That’s it for my week! How was your reading week? Did you find any new favourites? Anything exciting going on (bookish or otherwise)?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
