I managed to finish a few books this week, though two were short graphic novels that were very quick (but impactful) reads. I didn’t have as much time to read this week as I had hoped, and I still have to finish a couple of review books I’ve been working on for ages!
Just Shelved
I’d had The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot on my TBR for ages, but when I finally got around to reading it, I was surprised by how much I liked it. It was sad, for sure, but also full of love and hope and kindness. Finlay Donovan was not exactly what I expected, it was an entertaining thriller with some satisfying moments. Both Happily Ever After and Quiet Girl in a Noisy World were great little graphic novels about relationships and about introversion. I recognized a lot of myself in these pages, and some made me laugh out loud. Debbie Tung is a new favourite and I will read whatever she comes out with. I’ve got one more of her books left that I haven’t read yet, and I’m torn between devouring it immediately and trying to save it. I’ll probably read it tomorrow.
Currently Reading
I’m still working on both of these. I’m nearly finished with I Want to Die, but I definitely still have a way to go on The Last Chairlift. I’m planning to work on it later this week.
Up Next
I enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club, so I’m going to give the second book in the series a try. And Everything Is OK is the final Debbie Tung book I haven’t read yet and I can’t wait to read it!
It’s been a bit of a rough week this week. I lost a few days to some stressful stuff, nothing serious, but definitely energy draining. But I still read some great books and am looking forward to (hopefully) getting back to my reading this week!
What about you guys? Have you read any of these? Which books did you read this week? Any new favourites?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Nice looking assortment of books. I read that Finley Donovan too but didn’t feel moved to continue reading the series. I hope this week is less stressful. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Yeah, I’m a bit on the fence. I felt like it was decent, but also not what I was expecting and also she’s supposed to be an expert in crime from her writing but forgets about witnesses and DNA and all kinds of stuff. So it was a bit hard to buy into at times! We shall see. I might try the next one and then bail after that one if it doesn’t really hook me!
