I’ve settled into less of a frantic reading pace this week – after reading a whole schwack of books last week to make up for the two months I read nothing. This week was a slower week, but I still kept reading.
Just Shelved
I only finished two books this week, but I enjoyed both of them. Delilah Green Doesn’t Care was a bit silly, a bit petty, a bit emotionally immature, but it was also fun and had great lesbian romance and featured a main character that I can relate to more than any I’ve found in a romance novel before. So I enjoyed the fun of it all, and didn’t mind the silly stuff so much. I have really been enjoying the Thursday Murder Club series. The Bullet That Missed is the third book in the series (and the last that has been published so far), and I enjoyed it as much as the previous two. I like spending time with these characters, I love that they continue to be acerbically funny, blow all stereotypes of older folks out of the water and have great twisty adventures.
I also read parts of several other non-fiction books this week – Driven to Distraction, Women with ADHD Falling Through the Cracks, You Mean I’m Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy and Focused. I don’t read books about topics like this from cover to cover, rather I pick through and read the parts that I need to know more about, so I can’t say I read them in the sense of having read every single page in its entirety, but I did read all the sections that had info I don’t know yet or that I was interested in. So if I added up the pages I read it’d probably be another couple of books.
Currently Reading
I’m nearly finished my first Samantha Irby book, and I’m loving it. It’s funny, relatable to some of my experiences, and I love how open and honest she is about… well, everything. She is not shy about putting unpopular or possibly offensive opinions out there, and I love it. I haven’t picked up the next two this week, but mostly because I was in a rabbit hole of research, but I plan to go back to them. A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD is one I’m actually listening to as an audiobook rather than flipping through and picking out the bits I’m interested in, so I’m including it. It’s really interesting so far.
Up Next
I’m going to boringly just stick with this list from last week, though honestly I don’t know what I’ll get to next at this point! Depends on what I feel like reading and what comes up in my library holds list!
What about you guys? Did you finish any books this week? Any new favourites? Have you read any of the books on my list?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Interesting variety of books. All of them are new to me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Thank you! I hope there’s something in here of interest to you! Happy reading to you as well!
I’m a fan of the Thursday Murder Club series.
I’ve been curious about Samantha Irby’s books
Wishing you a happy reading week
I just finished the second and third Thursday Murder Club books and loved all three of them! I liked Samantha Irby’s book, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart. Very graphic and honest, lots of gory details. Very funny, though, and has a lot of unflinching truth about navigating adulthood (and childhood, come to that). To you as well, thank you!
