It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these – because it’s been a while since I’ve had anything to put in one! I moved about a month ago now, and it’s been nuts. Just, nuts. But I’ve finally managed to get through a few books in the past week or so, and they were good ones. So definitely time to share!
Just Shelved
I have had People I Want to Punch in the Throat on my shelf for literally years at this point. I just moved, so my books have been shaken up and moved around, and it jumped out at me. I’m glad I finally got around to it – definitely lots here I can relate to! A Thousand Ways to Pay Attention (or Earthed – a much better title in my opinion) is a memoir of late-life ADHD diagnosis, and of her family’s move from the city to a small-holding where she has taken on learning to grow and care for animals. It’s not perfect, but it was very good. And finally, the definition of “last but not least,” My Mess is a Bit of a Life, which is a memoir sort of thing about anxiety, but is also a series of very short and hilarious writings that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Currently Reading
I’ve got Amazing Grace Adams as an ARC from NetGalley, and I haven’t read much yet, but I’m looking forward to reading more. I came across Unraveling completely by accident on Audible, and it just stood out to me. It’s about Orenstein’s decision to get back in touch with the natural processes humans have been doing for our entire history by learning to sheer sheep, process wool, dye it and then knit it into a sweater. It’s quite interesting so far. The Wild Silence is the second book Raynor Winn wrote, the follow up to her fantastic memoir, The Salt Path, of losing everything and finding herself when she and her husband, essentially homeless, decided to hike the 600-mile long Salt Path that follows the southern coast of England. I’m not sure what to expect from it, but her third book Landlines is now out, so I want to give this one a try before I move on to that one. And Life in the Garden is another that’s been on my shelf for a while, but I finally picked up because I’m into gardening at the moment. I’ve only just started, but it’s promising so far!
Up Next
I’m really into humorous books, books about mental health and neurodiversity, and books about the natural world. So these books span all my current interests. I have no idea if any of them are any good – I came across two of them completely by chance – but I’m excited to give each of them a try!
What about you guys? Have you read any really stand out books in the last two months? Have you read any of these? What are you currently reading, and what are you excited to pick up next? Feel free to drop your answers in the comments if you haven’t written your own post this week!
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
You have a nice list of books here, I have not read any of them though. Have a great week 🌞📚💜
Thank you!
