It’s been what felt like a long week, but a decent one. I’ve spent a lot of time out in the garden, and it’s finally starting to look like, well, a garden – instead of an overgrown thicket of weeds on the rampage. They really were poised to take over the neighbourhood! I have also started judging the final round of the BookTube Prize! I’m judging fiction again, and this is exciting but also means that there will be six books I’ll be reading over the next two months that I will not be able to discuss until after the ballots are submitted so as not to influence any other judges should they find this tiny corner of the internet. So I’ll let you know which books those are, and reviews will be coming in the autumn.
Just Shelved
Young Mungo is the first of the BookTube Prize books I’ve read for this round, so I’ll share my thoughts on it after September! The Littlest Library was a good counterpoint – it’s light, entertaining and set in a small English village. One of my favourite settings. I wasn’t a huge fan of the romance element (when am I, though), but I loved the atmosphere and quaint feel of it.
Currently Reading
I’ve just started Trust – the next book on my BookTube reading list. The other two I’m still chipping away at. They’re both print, and as you know I have very limited time to actually sit down and absorb myself in the printed word, so they’ll take a while. Plus Monty Don’s book is a veritable encyclopedia of gardening, so not one to be read in quick succession.
Up Next
I’ve started a couple of these and haven’t gotten any farther this week. Meh, we’ll see. Trespasses will be my next BookTube Prize book though, so that’s the only one I’m sure about on this list currently!
That’s my week! What about you lovely folks? Any great books to share? Have you read any of these or do you want to?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Our Internet has been down for a few days, so I’m sorry for the late visit to your blog.
I’m very curious about Trust. I’ve seen mixed reviews of it, but some have been exceptionally positive. I’m also quite curious about Wilding by Isabella Tree. I’ll have to see if I can find that one.
No worries – I’m glad you’re back! I can’t say anything about Trust yet, but I’ll be reviewing it sometime after the end of September. I am really interested in gardening and nature and how our ecosystems work, so I’m hoping it’ll be a good one. I heard it talked about by Monty Don in one of his Gardener’s World podcast episodes, so I figure if he liked it, it’s worth a read!
Nice looking assortment of books. All of them are new to me. I’m trying to concentrate on reading books from my Review stack. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Thanks! That sounds like a great idea. I hope you find some good ones!
