This one is a two-week edition because I didn’t have time to write it last week. Not that it matters much! I’m making good progress despite being busy in the garden and with my kid, who I’m loving having extra summer time with. We had a wonderful time yesterday repotting three varieties of mint into larger containers and using all the gardening knowledge and terminology we’ve gathered from watching Gardener’s World in the process! (It was so much fun seeing my kid learn to tease apart entwined roots, scoop out the soil into the pot, carefully tuck in the roots and then say, “Okay, I’m going to firm them in, now, Mummy,” and then doing it perfectly.) It’s smoky skies here right now, so because of my asthma I’m house-bound. And I’m itching to get back out into the garden (also because I made the mistake of rescuing the neighbour’s bamboo plant from some overly enthusiastic morning glory without gloves or long sleeves, only to discover I’m allergic to bamboo. I’m paying for my neighbourly good intentions with a rash right up both my forearms that itches like the dickens!). Hopefully it’ll clear enough tomorrow for me to at least go and check on my tomatoes and repotted mint! Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading between gardening forays.
Just Shelved
I finished one of these last week, I think, and three this week. Unfortunately I can’t say anything at all about what I thought of them as I read all four of these for my round of judging the BookTube Prize, and we all must agree not to share our opinions until we’ve submitted our rankings at the end of September so as not to influence any other judges. So, I read these. I’m on to the next.
Currently Reading
I’m still slowly reading my way through Monty Don’s gardening bible – it’s really interesting and packed with all kinds of useful bits of information and tips! I’m nearly finished Life In the Garden which I have really enjoyed – the perfect book to read when you’re getting deeply into gardening!
Up Next
I’ll definitely be reading Demon Copperhead next, as it’s my final book for my round of BookTube Prize judging, but other than that I really don’t know. I’ve been mostly doing prize reading for the last few weeks, so it’s been a little while since I just got to choose something I fancied reading. I always get a little rusty after a judging round! But these all look interesting to me at this moment. I’ll probably read something completely different.
What about you guys? What did you finish this week? Any great books to recommend? Any to avoid? Have you read any of the books in my list this week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Sorry to hear about your allergy. Itching isn’t a lot of fun! Your books look good. I’m working on September releases from my review stack righ now. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Thanks! It’s improving, so it’ll pass quickly. I hope you find some great upcoming releases! That’s always exciting!
You have a few books I would not mind reading. Have a beautiful day ☕🌞📚💛
Thank you – you too!
