When I looked back in my Goodreads at what I read this week I was surprised to see I finished more books than I remembered! I thought I’d finished two, but instead….
Just Shelved
I read People I Want to Punch in the Throat earlier in the summer, so Midlife Bites seemed like an interesting one to pick up. It’s a funny, honest read, definitely worth it if you’re a mom heading into middle age. Screaming on the Inside was even better, but without the humour. It made me angry – as it’s supposed to – but had so much good info and context for why motherhood exists as it does now. It got a bit opinionated and judgmental in a few places, but it’s a fraught topic and one that’s close to home for the author, so I didn’t find that to be an issue. I finally finished Life in the Garden and enjoyed it. Great if you’re a literary gardener!
Two more completely random selections from my audiobook TBR. Group was okay, but perhaps more interesting for younger readers. A lot of it didn’t quite hit or felt less impactful than how it was presented (some things seemed fairly obvious). I also had serious questions about the ethics of this type of therapy, which I’ve never heard of before, and seemed to cross several boundaries. Glad it worked for Tate, but definitely seemed problematic. A Life in Stitches was much more enjoyable – I loved how the stories are connected into a knitting memoir that not only traces the threads of Herron’s life, but also the way a knitter is made and how knitting can evolve throughout a life. It can be a clumsy hobby, a utilitarian skill, or a form of survival strategy. Really enjoyed it; wanted more when it was done.

I’m in a knitting mood lately – maybe because we’re finally getting some cooler, damp days, and autumn no longer feels like it’s miles away. I’ve started a book I had on my shelves and unhauled, but then got as an audiobook. The Friday Night Knitting Club isn’t exactly what I expected, but it does have some knitting in it, so I’m giving it a bit longer to decide if I want to finish it. Still going with The Complete Gardener, as I likely will be for months!

UGH. As usual, NO idea at all whatsoever, so recycling the picks from the last few weeks, yet again!
That’s me for the week. What about you guys? What have you been reading lately? Have you read any of these?
A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.
Nice looking assortment of books. I’m reading October review books and will be for the foreseeable future. I have 15 on my stack for the month. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I hope you find some fantastic reads in that stack of books! Happy reading!
