LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Well, it’s been a busy few weeks! School started again, both my family members finally recovered fully from their bout with COVID (and I seem to have managed to quarantine my way around it), we’ve had a lot of appointments and errands to do, and I’ve been spending a lot of my time driving in preparation for my test which is fast approaching (and which I am quite nervous about still!). Needless to say, reading has not been a huge part of my life recently, much to my dismay. On the plus side, in the past few weeks my kid has made huge leaps with reading and has read large portions of a few chapter books as well as some graphic novels – all independently (and a bit aloud to the proud parents)! This has been absolutely magical to witness, and also has meant some wonderful time cuddled up on the sofa or at bedtime both reading our own books side by side. This, my friends, is one of those parenting dreams that has been long-held, and is as beautiful as I imagined!

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
Are We Having Fun Yet? by Lucy Mangan

I re-read The House in the Cerulean Sea in preparation for reading the newly-released sequel, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. It was just as wonderful as I remembered. And Are We Having Fun Yet? is the print book I’ve been slowly reading over the past couple of months that I was able to finish thanks to my kid’s interest in communal reading over the past week! Also excellent – a great look at the realities of modern motherhood (its pressures, challenges, judgments, contradictions and – occasionally – moments of pure joy) told with wit, emotion and no small amount of humour. I could definitely relate.

The first six are some of the books at the top of my audiobook libraries that I’m excited to get to soon. The last two are possible print/digital books that I might pick up now that I’ve finally finished Are We Having Fun Yet? and am able to think about what’s up next!

So that was my reading week. Did you read anything great over the past week or two? Have you read any of these? Any books you’re excited to get to ASAP?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

Thank you! I loved Somewhere Beyond the Sea, which surprised me a little as I had expected that second book slump, so I’d definitely recommend it! I’m glad to have added to your TBR, and I hope you enjoy your reading!
