LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Another busy week and I’ve been picking up books and even reading them in dribs and drabs, but have completely failed to actually finish a single one. But I’m hoping this is the beginning of an upward swing in my reading efforts and that it’ll lead to actually finishing a book one of these days! Here’s what I’ve decidedly failed to finish in the past week.

Just Shelved

Zero. Nada. Zilch.

Currently Reading

Mindful Parenting for ADHD by Mark Bertin, MD
Sarah Millican’s Support Group
The Fire Next Time etc. by James Baldwin
Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon

I dipped into all four of these this week – the first two on audio and the last two in print. I’m enjoying all of them, and want to continue reading them. But none of them have me completely hooked to the point that I can’t put them down or will choose reading over watching my escapist TV for them, unfortunately!

Up Next

How to Be Champion by Sarah Millican
Friends of Dorothy by Sandi Toksvig
What Your ADHD Child Wishes You Knew by Dr. Sharon Saline
We Solve Murders by Richard Osman

I’m enjoying Sarah Millican’s Support Group, so it’s still possible I’ll keep going with her once I’ve finished it. I’m also still in to reading about ADHD, so that’s also on the list. And I could probably use some fiction that took me out of my day-to-day, so that’s also an option. Who knows!

Well, I’m off to probably not be able to sleep until way past my bedtime and wake up with my jaw clenched so hard it’ll take a crowbar to open it. Wish me luck on my reading this week! Here’s hoping you’re all a little more relaxed and a little more literate than me at the moment!

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

I’m as stressed as you are, it sounds like, but I’m working hard to be calm and peaceful.

I need to add the James Baldwin book to my list of books I want to read before I die. I keep forgetting to do that. I need to finish up a few science fiction books and then I can read whatever I want to for the rest of the year. (Of course, nothing is stopping me from reading whatever I want to right now, except myself.)

I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing a lot of stress right now as well. It’s great that you’re working on staying serene through it, and I hope that the stress eases up for you soon! I’d definitely recommend The Fire Next Time, though I haven’t read any of his other books in full yet. I have trouble with most science fiction, with notable exceptions (like Project Hail Mary which I loved). I hope you enjoy the rest of your reading for the year and that you have time to pick up some books you’re excited for!

Good luck with your reading next week. Hopefully you will find something that grabs you and won’t let go. I ended up enjoying We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by James Baldwin, but don’t know if I would try to read so many. I’ve found I like to read one of his books, wait a while, and then read another.

Thanks – we shall see! I enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club books, so I’m excited to try this one. Yeah, I’m not planning to rush through Baldwin. I don’t even know if I’ll read all of the ones here, they just come in one book so technically that’s what I’m reading! I’ve read The Fire Next Time before, so that’s not anew one for me. I will probably wait between them as well!
