It’s been… a few weeks since my last My Week On Wednesday post. Mainly because I haven’t been reading as much and hadn’t finished any books or started any new ones to tell you guys about! But I’ve finally got a couple done, so here’s what I’m into now.
Just shelved:
I got through Rebecca mainly because I had it as an e-book and could read it on my phone while waiting (for eternity) for the baby to go to sleep. I’m glad I had those hours being held hostage, because it meant I really gave this book a chance and got invested in it. It was far more interesting than I ever would have expected. No small amount of credit goes to Simon for getting me to finally give this one a try (he’s actually also the reason for The Trouble with Goats and Sheep too)!
The Trouble With Goats and Sheep suffered a little for being left. I didn’t have an electronic format of this book and so I couldn’t keep on reading it in the dark while stuck in the baby’s room, and because of that I got very into Rebecca and wanted to keep going with it. I took a break in the middle of The Trouble With Goats and Sheep and when I came back to it I had to put some effort in to get back into the story. Which is no reflection on the book, as it was wonderful and I highly recommend that you pick it up right now.
Currently reading:
I’m not really sure what to read next, but Exit West and Death With Interruptions are contenders. I’m reading Midnight At the Bright Ideas Bookstore on my phone (again, while in baby jail), but I don’t have a paper copy of it, and I like to read a real book whenever I can. So I’m going to pick a new book tonight!
Up next:
I keep pausing at these two on my TBR shelves, so I think they might need to be delved into soon! But, of course, that could change by the time I get finished with the books I’m reading now. I’m half saving The Essex Serpent in particular because I’ve heard such good things about it that I’m scared it won’t live up to the hype and also if it does, I know I’ll be really sad to finish it. But I’m trying to convince myself not to be ridiculous and just read the damn book.
That’s about all I have time for this week, but let me know if you’ve read any of these or are planning to pick them up soon, and which books you’ve been reading this week!
