As anyone who’s been around here for a little while knows, my reading tends to fall off for a little while at least once a year. I’ve learned to just roll with it, because usually there’s a reason and it’s a chance to catch up on TV until the reading desire returns. So long story short, I didn’t read much this autumn. I blame having to pass my driving test and then take over driving three hours on school days! Then Christmas. So there’s been things. Here’s what I did manage to read, though:
September
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune
The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths
Rescuing Ruby by Nicola Walker
I enjoyed all of these. Are We Having Fun Yet? is a great book for overwhelmed mums who enjoy a humorous approach to dealing with stress. If you were a fan if The House in the Cerulean Sea, you should definitely read its sequel, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. It’s excellent. The Postscript Murders and Rescuing Ruby were both second books in a series, and I liked both of them.
October
My husband was reading this book for the first time, and I realized I had only the vaguest recollection of anything beyond broad plot points. I had really enjoyed reading it, so it seemed like a great opportunity to re-visit it. Glad I did, just as good upon re-reading.
November
Nothing.
So that’s my autumn in (lack of) reading! It was a busy one, and even though it’s a little sad to see only one book between October and November, I still don’t have any regrets because I needed to take a break and focus on life stuff.
What about you guys? Did you read any great books this autumn? Anyone else have a seasonal or stress-related reading break?
