Stacking the Shelves

Time to look at the books I added to my shelves this week with Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews! Not necessarily books I bought – also includes books I borrowed, was given or otherwise ended up with. Weeks I don’t buy any books I’ll scramble around my shelves and find some I haven’t shared in an StS post yet!

Purchased or given in New Orleans:

Island Beneath the Sea - Isabel Allende       Swamplandia! - Karen Russell
Island Beneath the Sea – Isabel Allende
Swamplandia! – Karen Russell

Review Copies (thanks to Random House of Canada!):

ONE MORE THING - B.J. NOVAK       A Spool of Blue Thread - Anne Tyler
One More Thing – B.J. Novak
A Spool of Blue Thread – Anne Tyler

Other:

Mr. Kiss and Tell - Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham       Funny Girl - Nick Hornby
Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell – Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham
Funny Girl – Nick Hornby
   Hot Blooded - Lisa Jackson
The Beggar’s Garden – Michael Christie
The First Bad Man – Miranda July
Hot Blooded – Lisa Jackson

This is two weeks in one, including a trip (I always visit a few bookstores when I’m traveling) and some new review copies, so it’s a bigger one than usual! There are a few here I’ve been waiting for (pre-orders) – particularly the newest Veronica Mars. I also picked up Michael Christie’s other book, after reading and completely falling in love with If I Fall, If I Die, published last month. Hot Blooded will be my first foray into Lisa Jackson’s work, and appealed to me because it’s set in New Orleans. My dad bought me an absolutely gorgeous two-book edition of Mark Twain’s work following a conversation about the books that led to me admitting I’ve never read them. And when I got home, One More Thing and A Spool of Blue Thread were waiting patiently for me from Random House.

I’m in the wonderful (if somewhat daunting) position now of having more books I’m excited to dive into than time to do so!

What about you guys? Have you read any of these? Any favourites? Did you pick up any great books in the last week? Share in the comments!
