Time to look at the books I added to my shelves this week with Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews! Not necessarily books I bought – also includes books I borrowed, was given or otherwise ended up with. Weeks I don’t buy any books I’ll scramble around my shelves and find some I haven’t shared in an StS post yet!
Liars, Inc. – Paula Stokes
Boring Girls – Sara Taylor
The Harder They Come – Tom Boyle
We Should All Be Feminists – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Single, Carefree, Mellow – Katherine Heiny
A Little Life – Hanya Yanigihara
I’ve already polished off We Should All Be Feminists (a book you and everyone you know should read immediately, btw) and am part way through a buddy read of A Little Life with Julianne. Which, btw, is probably the fattest, heaviest book ever, so Julianne and I are finding its title amusingly misleading.
What did you guys add to your overflowing shelves this week? Have you read any of these?
Yeah! I read The Art of Lainey, which was an excellent book for the intended audience (I'm in my 30s, so some of it was a bit juvenile for me, but taken in the context of being intended for teenagers, it was excellent). She says this book is very different, so I'm looking forward to giving it a try!
Isn't it? I wish I'd had it when I was studying Women's Studies in college. She synthesizes some of the most important points and makes them non-confrontational and… well, just good common sense. I haven't yet (I just finished the book), but I will!!
I need to read more classics! I remember enjoying The Alchemist, and not being able to get through Zen – so let me know if I ought to give it another shot!
The cover is GORGEOUS! I haven't cracked it open yet either (it might be a little while – I've got a few books to get through first), but I'm looking forward to it!
Great haul! Liars, Inc. sounds really good and I've seen it around quite a lot. I hope you enjoy everything!

Ugh, We Should All Be Feminists is so dang good. Did you listen to the TEDTalk they took it from? It's up on YouTube. I could listen to her talk all day long.
Oh, I hadn't heard of any of these!
I have just added a bunch of classics to my tbr piles – Lord of the Flies, Paulo Coelho, The Kite Runner. Getting into Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance now. So many classics, so little time!

I hauled The Harder They Come a few weeks back, but haven't had the chance to pick it up yet. I am really interested to see what you think about it. Isn't the cover beautiful though?
