Canada is an amazingly diverse literary landscape. From childhood favourites like Robert Munsch and Kit Pearson, classics like L.M. Montgomery, trailblazers like Ivan Coyote and Margaret Atwood and First Nations authors like Thomas King, Joseph Boyden and Lee Maracle, we’ve got so much to offer.
I wrote a Top Ten Tuesday post for Canada Day 2018 that inspired me to set up a living list of Canadian authors and books I have read and want to read. I’d like to keep adding to this as I find new and new-to-me Canadians – and as you guys recommend some to me! I’m just getting started, so watch this space!

Master List
This is where I’m putting all the Canadian authors I come across (hopefully it’ll eventually be all published Canadian authors, but I feel like I’m never going to manage that Herculean task!). This isn’t a list of my favourites, or a selective list based on any criteria – it’s the whole shebang of authors who were either born or lived in Canada at any point in their lives. It includes First Nations authors, French-Canadian authors whose work is French and/or English, Canadian-born and immigrant authors and everyone in between. Please feel free to suggest additions, but not quite yet as I’ve only just started!
