The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Into the Uncut Grass by Trevor Noah
Friends of Dorothy by Sandi Toksvig

The Life Impossible by Matt Haig
Enlightenment by Sarah Perry
James by Percival Everett

We Solve Murders by Richard Osman
I’ll Just Be Five More Minutes by Emily Farris
I have every intention of reading each of these. Someday. Probably not today. Tomorrow’s not looking very good either. But absolutely soon.
What about you guys? Did you have many 2024 releases you didn’t have time to get to? Do you still plan to read them? Are you disciplined and planning to knock them out quickly so they’re all caught up before you dive into 2025’s reading? Or are they likely to come up on 2025’s end of the year “books I meant to read” list (like mine)?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
This year I need to try Richard Oseman.
Definitely worth a go, I’d say!
Into The Uncut Grass looks adorable! There’s no need for guilt, I’m in the same boat 😉 I hope you’ll be able to read these books this year 🙂
If you’d like to visit, here’s my TTT: https://thebooklorefairy.blogspot.com/2025/02/top-ten-tuesday-high-priority-reads-for-2025.html
Thank you! Yes, it does look sweet – I’ve got it on good authority that it might not be quite as whimsical as I’d hoped, but I’ll still give it a try. Thank you! I hope I get to at least some of them as well!
We read Sipsworth for book club and had a horrible discussion. The book was unmemorable.
Into the Uncut Grass had cute illustrations but I kept thinking the boy was just naughty. Hmm.
James was the best book of 2024, hands down.
Wandering Stars is the sequel to There There but the first was better than the second.
Hope this helps.
Haha! I can always count on you for absolute honesty, and yes, it helps! I’m still curious to try Sipsworth and Uncut Grass – both are short and if I don’t like them it’s not much time wasted – mostly so I can see what the discussions are really about! (I have to admit that I sometimes enjoy agreeing about disliking something almost more than liking something… maybe I’m just a contrarian!) I’m waiting to get James from my library and Wandering Stars I need to re-read There There for, so it might be a little while before I get to it, unfortunately!
Sipsworth was really good.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I feel like it’s getting some mixed feedback, but that almost makes me more curious! I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed it – I’m definitely planning to give it another go!
Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange is intense and worth the read.
Great list.
Yes, I expect it to be! I just need to re-read There There first because I don’t remember it well enough to go into this one yet! He’s a brilliant writer, though, so I know it’ll be fantastic. Thanks!
I have The Message here, too. I liked Sipsworth a lot, but I think it probably speaks more to older folks.
I’m waiting for The Message to come in for me at the library – I’m actually quite pleased to see that the hold list is huge – I’m glad so many people are reading it! I’m interested in Sipsworth – no real reason I haven’t gotten to it yet, just hasn’t been the one to grip me when I’m picking a new read! I tend to really like books that are about/targeted to older folks – I’m middle aged, but I have so many medical issues that my health has me feeling like I share a more similar outlook to some of the older people in my life in some certain ways. Plus my interests and hobbies tend to be similar! I’m definitely looking forward to giving it a try.
