I have so many backlist titles on my TBR that a list could literally run into the thousands. So the list below is a combination of some of the classics on my list and some of the books I’m most frustrated with myself for not having read yet.
There are plenty more – like anything by Agatha Christie, Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickens and Salman Rushdie. If I were feeling ambitious I could include Ulysses – though in all honesty I don’t expect I’ll ever make it through that monstrous tome. The list does continue, but these were the first that came to my mind. I’d love to hear from you guys – which of these have you read? Were they good? Which would you like to read (on the list or off it)?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
The Great Gatsby is so short that it can easily be read in a night, so I’d highly recommend that one. I read Tree Grows in Brooklyn when I was a child, and I remember suddenly realizing that other families weren’t like the families I saw on tv in the early 60’s. In Cold Blood was another book I read when I was young; it was a powerful read, with vivid writing.
Good luck on your TBR.
