This week’s prompt was book covers in the colours of my country’s flag because it’s (I think?) Independence Day or something in the US this week. Unfortunately, I’m from Canada. Which doesn’t give me many options, since the only colours on my flag are white and red. Here are the most interesting books I was able to find that fit the brief.
Some of these are a bit of a cheat – obviously there are some other colours mixed in there – but I figured they’re close enough! Which country are you from? Which colours did you have to play with this week? Which is your favourite book you found to fit your country’s national colours this week?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
I might have to try the H Mart book. Thanks for sharing!
It was very good, but lots of trigger warnings (grief, loss, illness, mother-daughter relationship issues etc.)! I’m glad I read it though, and I liked the unique format.
I’m from the UK so I had red, white and blue as well this week, I could actually have done a lot more with just red and white as I read a lot of books with covers in that colour scheme, and quite a few of my covers this week were red and white: I did mostly red and white and blue and white with a smattering of covers that did actually have all three on. I think my favourite cover from the list I did this week was Enchantee as it does have all three colours on (though it may have been a slight cheat as they’re meant to represent the French colours on the cover!) so I was proud of that and it is just a gorgeous cover. I also really loved the cover of The Silvered Serpents because it’s such a beautiful cover anyway and I spotted a cheeky bit of blue that I hadn’t noticed before, so I was quite pleased by that as it meant it actually covered all three colours. From when I did the same topic previously back in 2018, my favourite cover was Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven King as I just love all the covers for that series, they’re so gorgeous.

Sorry for the delayed response! I did go and check yours out – and I fully agree – Enchantee is a beautiful cover, and great for the theme! I found my colours a bit boring, not so much because there are only two as that they’re not colours I particularly gravitate towards unless they’re in with a bunch of other ones. But I managed to find a few books that worked, so it was alright in the end!
The beauty is in the simplicity of just two colors, and these covers show that.
Great list!
Haha, thank you!
I think you have found the best examples yet. I keep wondering if I’d like the Richard Osman book. Did you? Happy 4th!
Thank you! I did really enjoy it. I actually then went on to read the two sequels as well! I loved the characters, and the plots are well thought out and work. Kept me guessing, which is unusual for me when I’m reading a thriller! I’d definitely recommend giving it a go!
Even if you don’t have many options in colors, you still made some great choices!
Haha, thanks!
I enjoyed Bad Cree and Opal and Nev. Today instead of the colors of the flag, I decided to share books set in Canada.

I’ll head over in a bit and leave you a comment on your post as well – but I did read it and it is an absolutely amazing twist on the prompt this week! I wish I’d thought of it – so much more interesting, and some familiar favourites in your list!
I love these red and white covers. Funnily enough, they’re the same colors I had to work with (I’m from Denmark) 😀
Excellent! I had a bit of a hard time – mostly because this just isn’t my favourite colour combo – but I had fun in the end!
