Here we go again – another list of books that I’m currently super excited about, but that will move down my TBR the second the post is published. Oh, to be someone who could actually set a list and then follow through! So here are books that look excellent that I most likely will not read this autumn.
So there we go! I’d love to hear which books of these you’ve read and if you think they were worth getting to. I’d also love to hear some of your favourite cosy autumnal reads – books about crafting or cosy mysteries or books that make you feel warm and fuzzy. Whatever you feel hits the spot as the air turns cooler!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
I commented last week (I thought!) with a reading suggestion for you, but it seems to have never shown up! It was Wicked Autumn by G. M. Malliet. It’s an English village mystery, first in a series that I really love. I listen to them on audio. Book #8 is just out or coming out very soon, I believe.
I should have included it on my list of Top Ten New Books I’m Looking Forward to This Fall!
Gah you did but I am that behind on moderating comments! I need to revisit my strategy. I usually leave comments to moderate so I can reply as I approve otherwise I forget, but with school starting and stuff going on with family and visits I have gotten horribly behind. I’m going through them as fast as I can and I think I’ll need to start just approving them immediately. I’m so sorry! I’m really interested in checking out the Wicked Autumn books – I’m near the end of Agatha Raisin and will need something to fill the void! Thank you thank you for the recommendation (and making it twice)!
These all sound really interesting. I am especially intrigued by East Side Voices and Enchantment. I also want to read more of Backman’s work My mother was Swedish and my father was Danish so I am trying to read more Scandinavian literature.
I hope you enjoy all of these books!
You picked out two I’m particularly interested in! I’m reading Enchantment now and it’s really interesting. I’m having a bit of trouble not letting my mind wander as it’s a slow, contemplative read (I’m listening on audio), but that’s because my brain is burnt out, not because of the book. I definitely recommend it, and I’m already planning to re-read it when I’m in a quieter place in my head! I really enjoy Backman. I don’t have a lot of experience with Scandanavian literature, but I do enjoy the tone and perspective of Backman’s books, so if that’s anything to go by, I also need to explore further! I hope you find some time for more of his books this autumn, and thanks for visiting!
I haven’t read any on your list yet, but the Fredrick Backman and Rebecca Makkai books are ones I would like to read, and Awakening has piqued my interest!
For cozy fall reading recommendations, I’m pushing Wicked Autumn by G. M. Malliet. It’s set in an English village. It’s the first in a series and the main character is a Church of England priest who’s a former secret agent who can’t entirely escape his old life. It’s not quite a cozy as I think of them, because the characters and plotting are more complex and really develop from book to book, but it’s a village mystery which is close enough for me!
Here I am, finally getting to this comment that has been languishing in my inbox for far too long (sorry, sorry!). As I said in your more recent comment, I will definitely be checking out the Wicked Autumn books – if my library has the audiobooks I’ll be giving one a try ASAP! Thank you so much for the recommendation! I haven’t read any Makkai yet, but I have one on my shelves and this new one is available from my library, so I really do need to get to them. It’s one of those authors that every time I see their books I wonder why I haven’t read any yet! Thank you so much for stopping by!
These all seem great. my grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry has been sitting on my TBR for some time now.
I actually started that one earlier this year, but it was right around the time I was moving and I could just tell I would want to really be focused on it when I read it, so I put it aside. I always feel like his books have neurodiverse-coded characters in them (or characters with mental health issues), though it’s not outright stated. This one seems to have two characters who have ADHD, which is a particular interest to me, so I definitely want to go back to it soon when I can give it my full attention! I loved what I did read of it, if that helps!
I hope you enjoy reading all of these when you get the chance.

Thank you! Happy reading!
I’ve heard great things about that Backman book. It’s one of the ones I haven’t read yet. I hope you love it.
I’ve enjoyed all of his books I’ve read or started so far, so I’m very hopeful that I will! I hope you get to it as well at some point!
I’m really excited to read The Bandit Queens at some point! I’ve also got I’ve Got Some Questions For You on my TBR but I’m not sure where I’m going to fit it in.
I’m the same with both of these – want to read them, no idea when it’ll happen! Oh, the life of the busy bookworm!
I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR YOU is interesting in the way it is written and a different angle on a mystery. I liked it. Hope you do too!
Ooooh thank you! That piques my interest and has rekindled my waning interest! 😉
Love the idea of rewilding one’s garden! I live in the country, so my yard is native anyway, but I’m glad that people with ‘grass’ lawns are starting to get behind creating places for bees, insects, etc.
I enjoy the idea as well. I’m mostly just a fan of growing things, lots of things, useful things, pretty things, lovely-smelling things! This is the first time I’ve had a garden in decades so it’s gotten me all excited to grow. I would love a chamomile lawn at some point. For now there is some lawn because I have a small child and though I like the idea of planting wildflowers instead, I don’t love the idea of bees and wasps being hidden from sight and stepped on! But I have already started planting mixes of pollinator-friendly flowers in any fallow earth and am loving sitting and watching the bumbling bees pop in and out of the blooms. It’s my new favourite hobby! I’m also enjoying growing veggies, so that’s a new interest as well! Your yard sounds like a lovely, vibrant place that’s full of life. That’s the dream!
The Bandit Queens sounds good.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I agree – I’ve heard such good things!
I’ve not read any of these but I do want to read Wilding.
I’ve heard about Wilding in a few places recently, and I’m intrigued!
I have the audiobook of The Bandit Queens on hold at my library – I love that cover too! Happy reading!
My Autumn TBR
Oooh I hope you enjoy it!
I absolutely loved I Have Some Questions For You, but Makkai has been a favourite author of mine for a while. I hope you enjoy it!
I have to admit that I have yet to read any Makkai – and I have absolutely zero excuse! I do need to get to her work soon – I have her last book sitting on my shelf in hardback as I was that sure I was going to read it right away. I have no idea what happened! Thanks for stopping by and for your recommendation!
