TOP TEN TUESDAY | BOOKS ON MY SPRING 2019 TBR

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you know my abysmal track record with setting and completing TBRs. It just doesn’t happen. But I can never resist making them! So here are the books that, at this current moment (and probably only for this one specific moment in time) are top of my TBR list!

First, the Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist. I’m not planning to read all the books on the longlist – that would just never happen. But I’ve already read three of them and am currently reading another two:

There are a few others I think I’d like to try, but I don’t think I will get to all of them:

So that’s the Women’s Prize books I’m interested in. Realistically it’ll probably depend a bit on which books make the shortlist as to which I end up reading. There are a lot I wasn’t particularly interested in reading, so I don’t think I’ll be trying to force myself to get through books I’m not excited about!

Next up are the Canada Reads books. I’m definitely not going to get to all the books on the list. There are three that I already had on my TBR, and they’re still there, but I’m not sure how high up they are:

Aside from the Women’s Prize and Canad Reads books, there are several I’m excited to read at the moment:

I’m really excited about all four of these, I think they’re all fairly new releases. I’m saving Another Planet because I started it, then realized I couldn’t stand the idea of not having any more books by Tracey Thorn (reviews of her first two coming soon – spoiler: I loved them). Daisy Jones has become one of the most-hyped books of the season which both draws me to and warns me off it, so we shall see. I can’t even remember where I found the other two, but I’m interested in racial politics since reading Locking Up Our Own, so It Was All A Dream promises to continue the discussion. Kid Gloves is a graphic memoir of pregnancy and motherhood, topics that are relevant to me at the moment and that I’m always interested to hear other experiences of. I’ve heard mixed things about Lucy Knisley’s other books, so I’m trying not to have unrealistic expectations, but having flipped through the book I am excited to give it a try.

So that’s it for this week – what about you guys? Which books are you most excited to get to, and have you read or do you want to read any of my picks? I’d love to hear all your thoughts in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

Golly! I had no idea that Lucy Knisley has a new book out. I first read her book that centered on travel to France. Oddly, I don’t care for graphic novels, and her books would probably be classified as such, but her books aren’t strictly graphic novels, I think.

I heard Valeria Luiselli speak recently and I now have her book in from the library. I also picked Circe for my spring list. I’d like to read both of these, but who knows?

I might want to read Circe at some point, but there are so many books out there that who knows when I might get to it. Whether you stick to your TBR or not, I’m sure you’ll get a lot of good reading done this spring!
