TOP TEN TUESDAY | BOOKS THAT HAVE THAT AUTUMN FEEL

I love autumn. I love everything about it. I love the cold bite in the air, I love the colours of the leaves, I love the satisfaction of a warm mug of tea and the unbeatable cosiness of anything warm and fuzzy. So it stands to reason that I enjoy books that give off that same feeling. Oddly, however, I had a really hard time remembering any of them. So instead of books that make me feel extra cosy, I’ve got a list of books that either are set during this time of the year or evoke it for me – either because of the themes or setting if it’s a book I’ve read, or maybe just the cover if it’s one I haven’t. Here are a few:

Now I feel like curling up with one of these under my softest fleece blanket and not coming out until the spring. How about you guys? Which books evoke autumn for you? Do you find autumn as appealing as I do? Have you read any of these, and if so, do they really give of autumn vibes?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

Pumpkinheads made my list this week too. The Year of the Runaways seems very fallish too. I’m a summer girl though, so we’re leaving my favorite season… ::sniff::

Aw! I hate to say I am not much for summer. I don’t handle heat well – my body just says “nope” and refuses to function. But I do like weather that allows me to curl up with a blanket, so we’re right where I like it! Hopefully you’ll get a mild winter – and summer will be back before you know it!

I don’t know if everyone would agree, but there’s a lot of it that takes place outside and it’s wet and muddy and that made me feel like it’s fall-ish. The story itself isn’t necessarily seasonal, and I don’t remember it ever mentioning the time of year. So I feel like it’s a good read for this time of year, but don’t expect it to be toooo autumnal!

I love the cover for My October. That is totally what my Octobers look like for me, green trees lol I live in Texas and I’m super jealous of all of the yellow and orange falls on Instagram.

Well, if it helps, autumn in the west is also accompanied by lots of colds, dry hands, chapped lips, toes you can’t feel and very wet clothing. So, you know, it’s a trade off!

Yay, I’ve got Pumpkinheads on my list as well! I haven’t been able to stop chattering on about that book since I read it because it gives me all the warm fuzzies and it’s such a heartwarming read 🙂 I also think that Normal People is a great choice (although a slightly more depressing read) but I love it haha great TTT!

I’m so glad to hear you loved Pumpkinheads! I haven’t read it yet, so it’s very encouraging to hear that you loved it and that it’s a cozy read. Agreed on Normal People! Thank you!

I enjoyed it, though it definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I found it to be a pretty quick read though – not that long and large font. Plus the experimental nature of it means that if you aren’t looking for depth of meaning you can get through it pretty quickly. I found it worth checking out.

I’ve read the Harry Potter book and Ali Smith’s Autumn, but I don’t think either of them give off autumn vibes. I like the sound of The Overstory – a friend of my loved it.
