TOP TEN TUESDAY | BOOKS WITH CHARACTER NAMES IN THE TITLE

This is a really interesting prompt. I don’t really notice when character names are in the title, but I probably will now! These aren’t necessarily my favourites that fit this prompt, just ones that I’ve either read recently or have sitting on the shelf in front of me!

And then there are the diaries, which do often tend to include the character’s name:

And then there are, of course, kid’s books. These often tend to have character names in the title, like so:

That was fun! Which books did you guys come up with this week? Did any of my picks make your list? Have any of them piqued your interest?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

Me too! I was obsessed with them when I was a kid. I’d read any book with “diary of” in the title! Something about peeking into someone else’s inner workings and learning about how they think and feel, I guess. Always want to be learning about people! I haven’t read Hendrik yet – is it good?

You know, that’s a tricky one for me. There are things about it I thought were great, like the imagery, but also things I didn’t love so much. Lots of what seemed to be references to or echoes on classic works or historical (maybe mythological? I’m not even sure on that) figures, which is great if you’ve had the kind of background that introduced all this to you, but feels like coming up against a closed door if you haven’t. It was fine, but I think I would have gotten more out of it if I’d had that background. Ended up feeling like a low class person at a fancy party full of private school kids, which isn’t a feeling I love. That was probably just a me thing though, because a lot of people have loved it!

There are so many options for this topic. I just went through my list of books read and I only ended up going back a couple of years to get 10. I would easily get more if I went back further on the list.

Thank you! I’d say Hamnet is great if you like atmospheric, detailed historical fiction (or even if you’re not big on the historical fiction part). And Aristotle and Dante was just so emotional and a great book to know exists! I listened to the audio play of Britt Marie when I was in hospital and loved it, but haven’t read the book. Daisy was such an unexpected hit for me when I read it!
