This is a really interesting prompt. I don’t really notice when character names are in the title, but I probably will now! These aren’t necessarily my favourites that fit this prompt, just ones that I’ve either read recently or have sitting on the shelf in front of me!
And then there are the diaries, which do often tend to include the character’s name:
And then there are, of course, kid’s books. These often tend to have character names in the title, like so:
That was fun! Which books did you guys come up with this week? Did any of my picks make your list? Have any of them piqued your interest?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
I love spoof diaries, don’t you? I forgot about ole Hendrik! What a fun list!
Me too! I was obsessed with them when I was a kid. I’d read any book with “diary of” in the title! Something about peeking into someone else’s inner workings and learning about how they think and feel, I guess. Always want to be learning about people! I haven’t read Hendrik yet – is it good?
I’m going to be reading Piranei very soon and I can’t wait!
Lauren @ Always me
Oooh, I hope you enjoy it! I had mixed feelings about it, but overall was glad I gave it a try and I know a lot of other readers have loved it!
I had quite a few kids books on mine, they definitely do seem to have character names in their titles often!

I tend to feel like I’m cheating if I include them, but these were some of my favourites so I couldn’t resist!
Bridget’s Jones’s Diary was really funny!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
It really was! I read it when I was a kid on a plane home from England, and it stuck with me ever since!
This looks like a great list! I like titles that include character’s names, I feel like it makes their importance stand out even more
That’s a really interesting point! I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re so right!
I completely forgot about Opal & Nev! Once you start to think about it there are loads of books that have names in their titles. Ones keep occurring to me all the time now.
There really are! I had trouble getting started on this, but then they just kept rolling in!
I’ve heard good things about Piranesi!
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-books-with-character-names-in-the-titles/
You know, that’s a tricky one for me. There are things about it I thought were great, like the imagery, but also things I didn’t love so much. Lots of what seemed to be references to or echoes on classic works or historical (maybe mythological? I’m not even sure on that) figures, which is great if you’ve had the kind of background that introduced all this to you, but feels like coming up against a closed door if you haven’t. It was fine, but I think I would have gotten more out of it if I’d had that background. Ended up feeling like a low class person at a fancy party full of private school kids, which isn’t a feeling I love. That was probably just a me thing though, because a lot of people have loved it!
Interesting list! I’ve got an Isabel Allende book on my list too 🙂
My TTT
Oh yay! I absolutely adore her! Thanks for stopping by!
There are so many options for this topic. I just went through my list of books read and I only ended up going back a couple of years to get 10. I would easily get more if I went back further on the list.
Right? I did the exact same thing!
Love your post! So many of these are still on my TBR. Hamnet, Aristotle and Dante, Piranesi.. But I have read Britt-Marie and Daisy Jones!
Happy TTT!

Thank you! I’d say Hamnet is great if you like atmospheric, detailed historical fiction (or even if you’re not big on the historical fiction part). And Aristotle and Dante was just so emotional and a great book to know exists! I listened to the audio play of Britt Marie when I was in hospital and loved it, but haven’t read the book. Daisy was such an unexpected hit for me when I read it!
