There are several book themes that will usually draw me in. A lot of my favourite books of all time are about one of these themes, and a lot of the books I’m most looking forward to reading are as well. I couldn’t pick just one, so I’ve separated this post into a few different themes, so I could include them all.
Health and Mental Health
Race
Interesting Lives
Motherhood
Travel
Marginalized (Often LGBTQIAP+) Perspectives and Experiences
Books
All but two of these books I’ve read and loved (and the ones I didn’t finish I loved what I did read and plan to go back to them). I think if you’re interested in any of these themes, you couldn’t go wrong picking up any of the books on this list. I’d love to hear if any of you included any of my themes on your list this week, or if you’ve read any of these books!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
Under the Tuscan Sun sounds lovely! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
It really was. Mind you, I haven’t read it since I was in high school, many many years ago now, but my memories of it are good.
I love these! These are some great themes
Thank you!
Oh, this is so cool and I loved how you presented this post!
Here’s my TTT post
Thank you!
I think I’m getting a copy of We Are Not Free very soon! It’s been on my wishlist for far too long.
It was definitely worth reading. Just for the history alone. I hope you get to it soon!
I’ve tried reading Jenny Lawson before, left me feeling very raw. There’s a lot of pain underneath the humor. Agreed that books like that on mental health are so important. I’d add Cheryl Strayed’s Tiny Beautiful Things to that list.
Yes, that was my experience as well. But it did help me feel less alone, and I find comfort in humour in difficult times. So that worked well for me! I haven’t finished any Strayed books, but I’m glad for the recommendation. I didn’t make it far with Wild, but that might be more my speed!
I’d like to read more travel books, but they always make me feel bad that I can’t afford to travel in real life. 🙁
Yeah, I get that. It’s hard. My health issues mean I can’t go many places anymore, and the places I can go have other down sides. I am trying to make my peace with that and just enjoy whatever vicarious experiences I can get!
We have such similar tastes in books!

Hahaha! Very glad to hear it!
Aaah this was clever. I think the health topic is rather clever. Not a lot of people will think about it. And the Books one!! Yes, that is a favorite trope for sure.
Happy TTT!

Thank you! It’s a topic close to my heart as I have some medical issues that are challenging. And books… I don’t have many booklovers in my life so I love finding books that allow me to connect to people who share my main passion!
