This week’s topic is outrageous things you’ve done for the love of books, and honestly I’m having trouble coming up with much. So I’m going to twist the topic a bit and talk about ridiculous habits bookworms can all relate to! A few of them are a little outrageous, too.
1. Referring to characters as if they are real life friends
I firmly believe it is completely normal to consider fictional people your friends. After all, who is as honest with you about their feelings as a first-person narrator in a book? No one, that’s who.
2. Book cramps
I haven’t. Fairly sure there isn’t one.
3. No more space for books
Look, I am fine with living at the end of a tunnel somewhere in a very tall mound of books. Unfortunately not everyone I share space with agrees on this point.
4. Forgetting you’ve already pre-ordered a book and ending up with two, or better yet, unexpected book mail
Ahem.
5. Ending up with multiple editions of your favourite books because you can’t decide which is best
Sometimes you just can’t decide. It’s not possible.
6. Skipping plans to finish a book
I mean, if you’ve been to one birthday party, you’ve kind of been to them all, amirite?
7. Feeling like no matter how much we read, it’s never enough
I find it physically uncomfortable to consider how few of the books on my TBR I will actually be able to read in my lifetime.
8. Preferring books to reality
In my defense, have you seen reality lately? It’s not like I’m missing anything good.
9. As if book award lists weren’t hard enough, we now have to keep up with all the celebrity book clubs
Don’t get me wrong, I love that celebs are championing reading. I really do. It’s about time they used some of those powers to get people thinking and learning. It’s just… see #7.
10. Pausing TV and movies to see the cover of the book a character is reading
Very few things irk me more than not being able to see the cover of a book someone is reading, whether it’s a character on TV or someone on a bus. JUST SHOW US THE GOODS ALREADY. THAT’S WHAT WE’RE REALLY HERE FOR.
So that’s it for me this week! I’d love to hear from you guys some of the ridiculous bookworm things this might have made you think of. I’d also love to hear any of your stories about outrageous things you’ve done for the love of books!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
Exactly!
Lauren @ Always Me
YES to all of these. Also, I may stare creepily at strangers on public transportation until they reveal the cover of the book they’re reading . . . .
Yes, book characters are good friends.
Book cramps are for real. I hate those!
I’ve run out of space for books a few times. I usually just try to do an unhaul after that. Great list!

Book cramps are an unavoidable part of reading, I think.
My post.
Yes, it is so difficult to find a comfortable position to read in!

I’ve paused movies and TV shows for that reason, too. Funny.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I can relate on most of these for sure. I’ve certainly pre-ordered some books and when it showed up been like, “Huh, I don’t remember buying you.”
Love this!! So many were very relatable for me. I have skipped doing important things to read before. I can’t help myself!
