TOP TEN TUESDAY | SERIES I HAVE YET TO FINISH

Top Ten Tuesday - New

In 2013, when I first started reading again post-university, I was drawn to young adult books. Many of the ones I was drawn to were series I’d heard a lot of other bloggers raving about: Divergent, The Hunger Games, Shades of London. Some of the series were already published, so I was able to read all the books in one go – others had just begun. Of those I liked, some I continued on with, others I meant to…. but never got around to. Partly because over the past year or so I’ve been reading more and more adult literary fiction, and less YA, and partly because I’ve got a terrible memory, and after waiting a year or more for the new installment, I lost my sense of where the series had left off.

This week’s prompt is “Finished Series I Have Yet To Finish,” so this is a good chance to go back and look at some of the series I haven’t finished. I’m expanding this a bit to include series that are all published, some that are ongoing, and some that I started but haven’t finished because I just don’t want to.

Finished Series I Haven’t Started OR Finished Yet:

A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness       The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer - Michelle Hodkin       The Magicians - Lev Grossman

The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown
The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

The Cold Dish - Craig Johnson       The Bone Season - Samantha Shannon

The Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear (My review of Maisie Dobbs)
The Maggie Hope series by Susan Elia McNeill (My review of Mr. Churchill’s Secretary)

The Name of the Star - Maureen Johnson       The Naturals - Jennifer Lynn Barnes       The Cuckoo's Calling (North American Cover) - Robert Galbraith/J.K. Rowling

The Shades of London series by Maureen Johnson (My review of The Name of the Star)
The Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (My review of The Naturals)
The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith/J.K. Rowling (My review of The Cuckoo’s Calling)

That was way more than ten, but even still, there are many more series that deserve a spot on this list. What about you guys? Which series haven’t you finished yet? Share in the comments!

I highly recommend Red Rising and The Bone Season. Both are marvelous, and Samantha Shannon is a dear. I also need to start the All Soul’s Trilogy, Mara Dyer series, and Magicians series. And I need to read the second book in the Cormoran Strike series. So much reading to do!

I just read the third book in the Shades of London series and I was a little disappointed. I thought that was going to be the conclusion to the series and was excited for it to wrap-up, but there is obviously going to be at least one more book, and the plot of the third book got a little weird and ridiculous in order to allow for another book. Maybe if I knew it wasn’t the conclusion I would have enjoyed it more? I’ve read the first two books in the All Souls trilogy but never got around to the third- maybe I will pick up the series again someday.
    Great List!

You have some good series on here! I whole-heartedly recommend A Discovery of Witches, Red Rising and The Bone Season! The second books of Red Rising and The Bone Season are two of the best books I’ve read all year — 5 stars all the way!
