This is an interesting prompt. Because I have definitely found that my reading has changed many times and in many different ways. When I was in college and university, I was so burned out with all the course reading that I rarely read anything for pleasure during term. Sometimes I’d pick up the trashiest, easiest, most fast-paced books I could find over the holidays as kind of a treat after all the meat-and-three-veg reading I was doing in school. (I once read the entire Twilight saga in a winter break from university, for example.) Then I started reviewing books toward the end of my university career, and though I had to be realistic about how many I could get through, I really enjoyed that. When I finished university I got back into reading, which was when I started this blog. I started reading a lot of YA because that hadn’t existed when I was a teenager, and I enjoyed it. Then I got pregnant and read the entire Agatha Raisin series over a couple of months, then when I had my baby, I stopped really being able to read for quite some time. My blog also went on hiatus. Then I slowly started to get back into reading ebooks on my phone, because I could read them while rocking my baby to sleep. That worked for a while. Then a couple of years ago I discovered audiobooks. It wasn’t easy – I’d frequently lose focus and miss things – but when I learned to speed them up suddenly they worked for me. I haven’t looked back since. Most of my reading these days is listening to audiobooks while I’m cooking or cleaning up or gardening, and I love having something to keep my mind busy. Recently I’ve been trying to also read a bit of physical books as well, though this is much slower. But I enjoy having an actual book to pick up when I do have half an hour of free time, and it has enabled me to read some of the books I haven’t been able to find on audio.
What about you guys? Have you found that what you read or how you read has changed throughout your life? Any other moms out there who have discovered audiobooks?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
Reading with littles at home can be so hard! Audiobooks while doing mostly mindless household chores are so the way to go. I hope you have a great week.
Here’s my TTT from last week if you wish to visit at this late date – https://justanothergirlandherbooks.blogspot.com/2024/10/top-ten-tuesday-books-on-my-tbr-longest.html
Totally! They’ve been such a gift for me and help me get through tedious tasks that nonetheless need to be done!
I haven’t heard a lot of audiobooks, but I’m trying to listen to more in the future. They definitely seem like they’d be very convenient and save time. I prefer reading physical books over other formats. It was great reading about your reading habits 🙂

I remember being SO excited for breaks from college because it meant I could FINALLY read for fun. I studied English in college, which meant reading A LOT, but none of it was what I REALLY wanted to read, so I totally relate to bingeing a whole series while on a school break!
Happy TTT!
