TOP TEN TUESDAY | MARDI GRAS COVERS

I like this theme, mostly because several years ago I was in New Orleans for the beginning of Mardi Gras, and those memories are some of my best. Here are my picks for the theme:

This is a bit of a random collection – I tried to find books with purple, green or yellow/gold on the cover that were also something to do with New Orleans, with varied success. Some of these I’ve read or read part of, others I have on my shelves, others I found via the wonderful Google and I can say nothing about other than that they fit the theme! The last one in particular was just a random find, though I did get a kick out of a Mardi Gras themed Nancy Drew book! Ah, the memories.

What did you guys do with the theme this week? Have you read any of these? Any suggestions for New Orleans books with the right colours on the cover that I missed?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

I hadn’t either!! I had no idea. Where I lived we only had the original Nancy Drews in my library, not some of the newer more fun ones! Maybe I’ll check it out one day – I haven’t read a Nancy Drew in decades!

We were only there at the very beginning of Mardi Gras I think – if memory serves it was a multi-day event – and while I loved it, it was a LOT if you’re not big on crowds! I was glad to experience it, but not sure if I’d want to be right in the thick of things every year!

Oooh thank you! That title sounds familiar, I will have to check it out! I find New Orleans is such a great setting for books – it has so many different elements (spooky, loud, vibrant, celebratory, food-loving, musical, beautiful and moody landscape….) that make it so fun to play with in books!
