This is an interesting prompt. Because of my poor memory, however, I’m left wishing I’d known this was coming up while I’d been reading over the past decade or so, so I’d be able to make a list as I read. Now I have a hard time thinking of them, and I know I’ll be kicking myself later as they pop into my mind! Here’s a few I could think of:
- Isaac from The Fault in Our Stars
- Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series
- The guy from I Capture the Castle
- Any of the kids from The House In the Cerulean Sea
- Diane (the mom) from If I Fall, If I Die
- Lisa Carter (the mom) from The Hate U Give
- Gilbert Blythe from the Anne of Green Gables series
- Each character from The Thursday Murder Club crew – I feel like they all have interesting back stories or are interesting people (or both!)
- Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird. I’d also be curious to learn about the mom – anything about her, as she’s not even mentioned in the book.
- Doctor Kathleen Lynn from The Pull of the Stars
That’s it for me this week! What about you guys? Did any of my picks make your list? Which was your top pick character this week?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.
Amy and the kids would be cool to see in their own story.
Right?!
The unmentioned mom in To Kill a Mockingbird would be so interesting.
Great list!
Thanks! I don’t remember every sparing a thought for her the first time I read it as a kid, but now that I am a mom I found she kept popping into my mind as I read, this huge unanswered question mark that hovered above the whole story for me. I’d love to know what happened to her, and what she was like!
I agree with Neville Longbottom! He deserves his own series (or at least one book!).
He’s one of my favourite characters. So underestimated, and such a good-to-the-core character. I’d love to spend some time with him when he was older and had found his confidence and intelligence I have a feeling he’ll go far!
It would be cool to get a book for Isaac. He was a great character.
Yeah, he was barely in the book but still made an impression!
