TOP TEN TUESDAY | ONE WORD REVIEWS FOR THE LAST 10 BOOKS I READ

Now I’m writing this well in advance partly because I usually do, but also because I’m currently reading books for the BookTube Prize and I can’t talk about what I think of any of these books until I’ve submitted my rankings and the judging for the Quarterfinals round is over on May 30th. So here are one word reviews of the ten books I read right before beginning my judging round in April!

Vital
Hahahaha
Perspective
Dark
Honest
Truth
Recognition
Yikes
Phew
Sniff

That was actually a lot harder than I thought! Apparently I rely heavily on adjectives in describing anything. Did you guys do any better than I did this week? If you’ve read any of the books in my list, do you agree with my assessment?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

You know, it’s good, but I kind of feel like maybe this is one case where if you are never going to get around to it you can get a fairly close idea by watching the film. I’m not going to say it’s as good, because I’d lose my membership to the readers’ club, but it’s a pretty close second!

I felt like I got a lot from it. I knew a bit about some of the content, but it was still presented in a way that was really engaging and interesting. I had it on audio but also print so I could follow along some parts and mark passages, but I did like the audio. It has a lot of interesting pieces in it by recognizable authors like Claudia Rankine and Jason Reynolds, some of which are quite personal and add a connection point to the facts. Really, really good.

Thank you! I thought it was well done. I don’t think it’s the only book that covers what it covers, so really it’s more that I think everyone should be reading about these topics somewhere, but this is definitely a good collection!

I actually watched the series before reading the book, which was what prompted me to finally get around to it. I agree, definitely eye-opening. I hate how hard the system is to navigate and how difficult it makes it to do more than just scratch by. I feel like there needs to be more support out there!
