I can’t do horror. I can handle violence, but if there’s even a hint of creepy, I’m out. So there are definitely books I’d love to read if I had the constitution for them! There aren’t that many though, because since I can’t handle scary stories, I don’t tend to file them away in my brain the way I do with serious TBR books. Here are a few I do remember:
I tried to read the last two because I was kindly sent them as ARCs by the publisher, but I just couldn’t handle them. Which has stuck with me, because it feels like a failure in a way just picking them up at random and DNFing them wouldn’t have.
Are there any you are too scared to try? Have you read any of these? Are they disappointing or am I really missing out? Are any of these not actually all that creepy?

Great picks! The Haunting of Hill House is one of my absolute favourites.
I’m a total scaredy cat, too! I wouldn’t read these either.
Iβve read The Haunting Of Hill House. Itβs not scary at all in my opinion. I still need to read The Turn Of The Screw.
I haven’t read any of these. Creepy isn’t really my go-to genre (I read Shadowhunters books, but I wouldn’t really call them creepy or scary).
I can’t handle scary stuff either! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Yep, I am in the same club. It was all I could do to read a few spooky books to kids in my elementary school library.
This is a great list. And, yeah, The Woman in Black was pretty scary. I’d definitely recommend avoiding the film since the book was too much for you. It was well done, but it also make me just about jump out of my seat in a couple of places. π
My TTT.
Great TTT! This topic was the first one that came to mind when I saw this was a freebie. I really wish I wasn’t such a chicken. The Haunting of Hill House is on my list too π
My TTT post
I am pretty chicken when it comes to horror, but I do love a good, Gothic horror and The Turn of the Screw and The Haunting of Hill House are great examples of them. π
Here’s my Halloween TTT post: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2019/10/29/top-ten-tuesday-29th-october-2019/:-)
The Haunting of Hill House was pretty creepy, but not as creepy as the Netflix show based on the book. Fictional horror doesn’t bother me too much, but I can’t read horror based on a true story. No thank you. π
My TTT
That was my feeling as well. I don’t like spooky, creepy and definitely not horror. Great choices tho
I don’t do scary either. I read The Canterville Ghost this year, fearing the ghost parts but it ended up being funny. My Halloween TTT
