I’m not a foodie, not by any stretch. I like simple food, I don’t like anything with a strong or intense flavour generally, and I don’t eat meat. So by most people’s standards, in food terms, I’ve never lived. Fair enough, I suppose. So I’m not really who you go to for food advice. That said, I have had one particularly amazing experience with food in my life. I had the good fortune to be able to go to New Orleans for a vacation, and MY LORD the food there is amazing. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t eat meat or seafood, so I imagine for the omnivores out there it’s even better. Everything from beignets to the coffee to breakfast at The Ruby Slipper to the drinks were amazing. But by far the best was dinner at Irene’s. I had to order off-menu as it’s mostly meat, but they were able to make me a wonderful salad and ravioli and it managed to be the best food I’ve ever tasted. We went there twice during the trip, and I’d happily eat there forever if given the chance, it was that good. The other people who were with me did eat meat and seafood and also thoroughly enjoyed their food, so it’s not just me who thought so!

Sounds yummy
Very.
Yes, New Orleans cuisine is amazing. I’m glad they were able to make such fantastic meat-free dishes for you.
Yes I was surprised at how accommodating they were. One restaurant the server even went to get her boss who then came over to chat because he was a vegan!
