As some of you know, I have medical issues that create complications in my life. Now every season is accompanied by a different reason I can’t go outside if I want to be able to breathe. So I’m going to share what used to be my favourite parts of each season, and the hope that maybe one day I’ll get to enjoy them again.
Spring – the smell of fresh rain in a sudden shower, the smell of green in the air and planting seeds and coaxing them into new shoots.
Summer – warm summer evenings when the heat of the day is receding, but the night holds the warmth. I used to love being out at night in the city, going to a live show or for drinks with friends, and then heading home in the wee hours when it was dark and quiet and felt like everything was right in the world.
Autumn – the first hint of colour in the leaves, the first day I can bundle into a cosy sweater or curl up under a fleece blanket with hot tea.
Winter – the smell of ice in the air with the first frost and the satisfying crunch of fresh snow under my boots.
What about you guys? What do you look forward to at the change of each season? Which is your favourite?

I love the smell of rain in any season, but where I am it’s usually spring and fall. My answer is here.
I’m on the west coast, so mostly it’s rain here, but in spring and summer when it has been dry for a bit it’s lovely!
You’ve captured the essence of the seasons perfectly.
Thank you!
What a lovely list.
I adore the smell of the world just after it’s rained. It makes everything feel so alive.
