I made the above image for a question similar to this sometime last year. It’s a view of the Italian countryside, one of the places I most want to visit. So basically the setting of Under the Tuscan Sun. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go there now, though, because of various medical issues. Another place I have always wished I could step into (that sadly no longer exists) is the bookstore Marks & Co. from the book 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff. Mostly because I just re-read Q’s Legacy, her memoir, and it brought it back into my mind. I love bookstores, and an old one in London would be so wonderful I’d probably never leave.
What about you guys? Is the setting you’d like to visit a real place or a fantasy one? Is it in a different time or today? Share in the comments!

Italy sounds like it’s beautiful!
It really does, doesn’t it? I have no idea, as I’ve never been, but it’s my favourite place to armchair travel to!
What would you do in Italy if you could go there?
Mostly just soak it in, I think! The landscape really appeals to me, along with the food and general pace of life. I’d love to just wander in the countryside, find a small town with delicious pasta and gelato, read a book in the Tuscan sun… just exist there for a while!
I’d love to see more of Italy, certainly.
Where have you been? I haven’t been there at all, so I’m always excited about books set there!
Rome and the Amalfi coast, which was beautiful. I’d love to go back.
That sounds amazing! I hope you do get to visit again!
