WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | COLD REMEDY

So I grew up on a hippie island. We were taking kyolic garlic and echinacea (gross in liquid form, btw) before it was cool. And I have to say I never really noticed any of those alternative remedies making a noticeable difference to the tragectory of any cold. I then gathered info from all the thousands of doctors and medical professionals I’ve seen over the years and currently it seems that generally most of them are not considered to be effective in helping once you are already sick, except zinc which I think does help your immune system fight off illness. But some of them can help you fight off getting sick in the first place, I would guess. Basically, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure in this as in many things, and keeping yourself healthy before you get sick seems to be the best way to beat a cold once it’s in you. I have found that since COVID paranoia hit, masks and disinfecting have become a more common thing, and in my house in particular they’re now standard if there’s illness around. Wearing an N95 mask definitely does mean less viral exposure and less severe symptoms, even though I inevitably still get sick. It’s annoying, but generally worth it!

What about you guys? Anyone out there find that the alternative remedies do help you? If so, which ones?
